Stumbled upon this cafe at Fook Hai building as I was around Hong Lim market, and it had a decent crowd for an off peak afternoon. Smelled the aroma of the curry and got hungry, and while it isnโt the most wallet friendly, it was one of the more delicious chicken curries Iโve had. The sauce had its balance all right - the consistency, the spice, the coconut milkiness. Chicken was wildly tender, and the best part was the rosemary and garlic focaccia chunks that blended perfectly with the rich curry sauce. They serve other local cuisines as well like Mee Siam and Mee rebus, which all look delicious from their menu. But this is one place Iโd bring a friend, both for their excellent coffee and food offerings.

Took me long enough to try this!! I absolutely enjoyed the fluffiness and creaminess of the scrambled egg that was drizzled with a bit of soy to give that umami flavour with every bite. The luncheon meat and prawns are perfect complements for your rice with egg, I just wished that there was an option to add more egg to this bowl! The star of the dish really was the scrambled egg, and how it seems really recipe perfected. However, it still comes with a bowl of unimpressive and relatively dry rice that did not match up with its impressive ingredients.

My go to for meals at Orchard will always be Far East Plaza because they have more wallet friendly options. Have seen Maddieโs Kitchen circling round the internet and decided to give it a shot. Itโs located at a corner of FEP on Level 2, but is a pretty big store on itโs own. I thought that the curry rice was just decent. The pork chop had a crisp outer layer, but I thought that the meat was a little thin. The cabbage was soft but a bit bland, and the curry just didnโt feel rich enough for me. That being said, the menu is pretty diverse, and people seem to be a big fan of the oyster omelette and beef hor fun, which I would definitely come back to try!

Yes this place is famous for its wanton noodles, but they make a mean, solid carrot cake that is to die for. $5.70 is indeed pricey, but you get a sizeable portion of eggy, crispy, and perfectly balanced white. add of cake. Carrot cake itself has nice bite to it, but also a wonderful wok hei flavour. With that slight umami taste from the preserved radish and the fragrant, spicy, chilli, this dish from Wanton Noodle House is truly my guilty pleasure.

The stall claims to not use any MSG, but the chicken broth is naturally rich in flavour which was satisfying. While I still prefer tonkotsu broth for my ramen, this bowl is still a pleasant choice as it presents itself as a simple delicacy. A relatively small shop, but the staff were very welcoming and kind. For a 4.5 star rating on Google, I was pretty excited for Matsuri and expecting to be mindblown, though alas, there was nothing much that stood out to me in particular. Maybe I tried the wrong dish?

Loved the flavours from this seafood pasta. The lobster bisque and brandy combination was impeccable - so savoury and umami but very light on the plate. Also, a very good amount of black tiger prawns. The choice of linguine pasta really gave that slurpy goodness. Couldnโt have enough of this!

Fusilli with a Wagyu beef cheek ragu that was slow cooked for 12 hours with red wine. You can taste the richness of the sauce together with the tender meat chunks in the ragu. Personally not a fan of short pasta like fusilli but it complemented everything perfectly, considering the thicker consistency of the sauce. If youโre a fan of meat based and red sauce pasta, this is one you canโt miss.

First time trying Thai Kway chap and I was pleasantly surprised! I loved the peppery broth which was a refreshing change from the herbaceous flavour, reminding me of a bak kut teh broth. But the ingredients in Thai Kway chap were also interesting, with pork slices, pork belly, and fish sausage - all of them were very good!! Really liked the Kway here as well, soft but slightly chewy, and they come rolled up which makes it easy to eat with just a spoon.

Stumbled upon this shop with a really interesting storefront, that if you go at night youโd probably get a glimpse of Japan with the whole JDM initial D vibe. The store does not seem to have proper meals, but they do have a good selection of bites. While I came in just wanting a drink, seeing how there was a namesake item on their menu, I had to try it. It was a crispy deep fried tofu with their special chilli dressing. This chilli was on the slightly watery side, but was delightfully spicy, tangy, and just a bit sweet. I quite enjoyed it as a bar snack, but above all, I think Iโll come back for the really nice and chill vibes.

My favorite handmade ban mian to date. The noodles? Impeccable. Fresh, chewy, and of nice thickness and texture. The sauce had a nice good mix of savouriness but itโs nothing until you add that amazing chilli which really packs one hell of a spicy punch and elevates the whole experience. Typing this is making me crave it again, but I understand that they have moved? Or will be moving from Sims Avenue to a coffee shop near Geylang East library. Please let me know if anyone finds out their new address๐ซ

I thought it was my mistake for patronising Changi Famous Nasi Lemak at an off peak hour, but after having a rather dissatisfying meal, I checked google reviews and alas, there have really been some issues with standard. Firstly, the whole plate was stale and ingredients were cold. Granted the rice had a decent flavour and the sambal was just right (not perfectly spicy enough though), the entire plate was just lacklustre. Not forgetting how unpleasant the vibe of the whole stall was, I shouldโve thought twice and went for the many other options there.

Army stew with thin slices of beef, without the beef this wouldโve cost $45 but I need my meat๐ When I patronised wonderful bap sang previously, the staff told us that the army stew was sold out which means itโs probably good?? Fast forward to a weekend before the peak dinner crowd, I managed to get a seat easily as well as order the army stew, which was honestly very comforting and delicious on a rainy day. Fit for 2 pax, the army stew was full of ingredients - kimchi, rice cakes, sausages, luncheon meat, bacon, ham, baked beans, and ramyeon, I was stuffed after the meal. The army stew had a good amount of spice in it, and a very appetising tang to it as well. That being said, I personally thought it was more on the pricier side.
