Granted, the 200g beef patty (cooked a medium I suspect) was substantial and really tender, but it was dry and lacked the desired juiciness we associate with an excellent beef burger. The hotcho miso sauce, tomato slices and the delightful caramelized onions did manage to salvage the situation, but the whole experience would have been so much better if the patty was done a medium rare to preserve that beefy goodness.

Essentially, you get what you're paying for. Pluses are the low prices (no GST or add-ons, mind you) and the sheer variety of pastas, handmade or otherwise, and sauces ranging from the run-of-the-mill to more interesting ones.

The tagliarini with the [Al Ragu] sauce arrived clumpy albeit soft, and we expected more of that delicious beef stew sauce. The beef chunks were however faultless. The [Truffle Carbonara] was as fragrant as the cream sauce was watery - which was a real pity since the sauce barely clung to the spaghetti and we couldn't get more of that truffle-y goodness in each bite.

Ngohiang by the common man suffers all sorts of afflictions: beancurd skins which are either too thick or too salty, paltry fillings, not crispy enough, etc. Ngohiang by this stall, however, is heavenly. This delectable creation is fried to golden brown perfection – so crispy you can hear an exhilarating crunch when your teeth sinks into the soft and juicy pork filling. When paired with the peanut sauce it's a match made in heaven. We love it, and we're definitely making return trips.

The Salmon Mentaik Don ($8.80) was pretty decent for its price: Generous slice of salmon which was reasonably soft, but a tad too salty for my liking (perhaps a result of the metaiko and the teriyaki sauce on the rice). But we'll definitely be back!
