One of the few new ice-cream cafés in the East. Simplicite Cafe offers two types of waffles; Blossom (which comes in an attractive shape with fruits) and the Classic. The waffle was not really too impressive given that it seemed a wee but overdone hence a bit bitter. Gelato were really good however; the Hazelnut was smooth and nutty with the nut's distinctive chocolatey flavour well brought out, while the Fleu Di Latte is a milk flavour which is really rich and thick.
Yet another dessert at Toothsome Cafe that is lighter in taste than usually served elsewhere. It's not incredibly cheesy, so those who detest cheese would probably like this. It's smooth and rich, but also slightly firmer than the ones elsewhere.
Toothsome Cafe does not only sell cakes for desserts, but they also have some Chinese-inspired light bites such as this one. This was essentially like your charsiew pastry, light flaky pastry skin with sweet honey marinated chicken chunks in the inside that even replicates actual charsiew in texture. So good I wouldn't mind having one more!
Quite an unexpected find was this Sawdust Pudding, though it wasn't really much of a pudding because there seemed to be no eggs involved. The crumbs were savoury, but the pudding felt like its made of thick whipped cream. Still delicious, just a bit different from those I have tried before.
Starting to fall in love with lemon/lime tarts lately. The Key Lime Tart here hits all the right spots; that base that held up well yet not too hard, the zingy yet sweet lime curd and the cream to neutralize all those flavours. I was full but I just cannot stop myself from finishing it!
So legendary that almost everyone that had been here had said at least something about it. I just can't stop myself from raving about any dish that they serve here; warm jiggly sticky date pudding that was fibrous with their signature Hokey-Pokey Ice-Cream doused in caramel. So glad I am finally having it after my fifth visit here; was so good I think I died once, came back and left my soul there!
Regroup X Scoop Therapy aims to serve everything all under one roof, and is Group Therapy's third outlet. Ice-Creams are all churned on site; Butter Beer tasted like a combination of Butterscotch and Beer in it as the thick sweetness was evident with the deep alcoholic flavours. Burnt Caramel despite its name was actually pretty evened out in taste; a dash of bittersweet. The combination of these two were a bit wrong though; as though the Butter Beer got overwhelmed by the Burnt Caramel somehow.
Crispy breaded turkey bacon strips with a smattering of tobiko and mayo on paper-thin egg crepe-wrapped sushi rice. Sounded good on paper, but wasn't that great in reality.
For truffle fans out there, this is a version of tonkatsu that might interest you. The breaded and deepfried juicy pork loin gets a spray of truffle oil when it is delivered to the table. Then to really layer on the truffle aroma and flavour, a saucer of truffle salt is presented for dipping. I have to say, this was something quite new to me and it tasted delicious!
Special garlic and vegetables ramen from Miyamoto at Ramen Champion. A huge bowl of thick Japanese noodles in garlicky tonkotsu broth with wholesome roasted charsiew and pork belly cubes. The vegetables and pork belly were overly generous, but I'm not complaining at all.
There's probably no better place to get your drinks on with friends after work. Have your dinner first, and head over (before 9 please) to get pampered with a mani-pedi, then move over to the bar and stay till late to enjoy some wonderful gin cocktails. Doesn't the Lady Marmalade - oolong infused gin, lavender and marmalade sound awesome?
Located behind Shoebox Canteen, Bitters & Love is a great find perfect for exquisite, personalised, after-work cocktals, with prices ranging from $19-25. They also serve up tasty bar snacks like the tender rangers valley waygu and triple cooked handcut truffle potatoes (prices from $13). Unpretentious and staffed with friendly bartenders, the search for this place is definitely worth it.
