Don't really have an idea on what to have for lunch so went back to I Want My Noodles for something simple; I am glad I did.
Coming with elements such as slow-cooked black mushrooms, a hay-bee sambal, stir-fried minced pork and loads of pork lard with their own freshly-made egg noodle, the My Bak Chor Mee carries the perfect balance of savoury and vinegary flavours with a spicy touch; mix in the sous-vide egg for a more silkier touch that coats really well and provides a good flavour to the springy egg noodles here. Extra love for the generous amount of crispy pork lard that comes with each portion!
Check out their other yummy Malaysian Tse Char dishes as well!

The steamed fish here are sold at seasonal prices depending on availability. We paid $25 for ours and had the Teochew style (they also have Hong Kong and Assam style) because dad wanted something appetizing and sourish. The relatively good sized fish was fresh and tender but unfortunately, didn't satisfy his cravings as it was bland and needed a lot more seasoning.

Or as I call it, Japanese Bak Chor Mee. Similar to a 炸酱面, the main ingredient of this dish is spicy minced pork, accompanied by a soft runny egg, tons of spring onion and nori. A very delectable bowl of noodles to slurp finish!
Best in the whole world!!! Can't imagine anything better... Despise hawkers who sells red dyed blanched pork and call them char siew. Do they even know how to roast char siew, I wonder. And wanton is wanton, not fried dumpling skin! You know who you are, I'm talking about (a disgruntled wantonmeemaniac)
This place makes a mean mee goreng & ikan bilis bee Hoon goreng is superb too. 24 hrs as well
Sometimes all you need is a plate of spicy Maggi Mee Goreng topped with a liquidy "mata lembu" (a.k.a. "bull's eye" or sunny side up egg) to put a big, fat smile on your face.
Yummy pork rib king! The flavour is just nice and the meat is tender. Be prepared for a 30 mins wait though!
KEK is one of those rare zi char places with friendly and prompt service. Go for the unique Claypot Pig Liver with rich liver sauce for liver lovers, and the Claypot Drunken Prawns in lovely herbal soup. The star dishes here are their Moonlight Horfun with raw egg, and their Salted Egg Crab! There are both outdoor and indoor seating, call ahead for reservations!
Famous for their Chao Tar (Burnt) Bee Hoon, this is a great spot in a central area for a midnight snack. Share the nicely browned and flattened bee hoon topped with crunchy lard and brimming with wok hei, along with the Seafood Toufu and Baby Bok Choy. If you're up for something spicy, go for the Hot & Sour Soup Thai Style. Look out for the Shing Boon Hwa Food Centre sign across from Sim Lim Tower.
