Nasi Lemak with Prawn Paste Chicken Visited The White Tiffin recently; the F&B establishment having moved from Fragrance Empire Building to its new premises at Changi City Point. Serving up their famed Nasi Lemak, the menu also sees a variety of other Noodle and Rice offerings, such as Curry Chicken and Laksa as well, alongside with cakes and desserts (including the Soya Beancurd Tart that seems to be supplied by Le Cafe). Really enjoyed the Nasi Lemak they have to offer; coming with other elements such as Ikan Bilis, Peanuts, Achar and Salted Egg Fish Skin, the Nasi Lemak here is one that comes with quite a number of accompaniments on the side. The Nasi Lemak here comes infused with Blue Pea Flower to carry that blue hue; otherwise, the rice was pretty fluffy and carried a nice hint of fragrance from the coconut — distinct, yet light. The portion of the Prawn Paste Chicken is pretty generous; the fried batter being all crisp while the flesh itself was juicy and succulent, carrying a umami flavour from the prawn paste used in its marination — the flavours being on point and well-expected for what it seems to suggest. Carrying its signature hint of sweetness, the chili is the sort that is typically served with Nasi Lemak yet carrying a moderate level of spiciness that tingles the tastebuds. Other elements like the Ikan Bilis and Salted Egg Fish Skin were crispy like they should; none of the limp, aired-out ones that one may get at a coffeeshop because they were sitting at the counter for too long, while the Achar came peanut-free (yay for me!) and carried a refreshing crunch that gives a good break from the heavier elements. Had always been wanting to try them out after reading multiple articles on them; a great eat that I would consider having in the area, and something which I would most certainly wish to have again!

Curry Chicken With Rice $7.00 - Curry chicken is a tad on the saltier side. Served with rice/bread. While the sauce is thick and creamy, it still doesn’t mask the salty taste even when it goes with rice. Chicken pieces are breast and served with only a chunk of potato. Not a whole potato btw. Wouldn’t go for that the next time I’m here.

Mouthwatering Nyonya food at home! @shootandspoon was quite enigmatic when I probe her for some clues about our #eatsharelovesg meal. Little did I know to expect a Peranakan Dinner feast from @fatbellysg, and they have a 3rd generation Peranakan chef at helm! The special Peranakan Family Dinner Set Menu ($55/2 pax or $98/4 pax) changes every week. My dinner consist of: • Lemak Ayam Chilli Merah (stewed chicken in rich coconut gravy) • Sambal Udang Petai (prawns and stink beans sautéed in spicy homemade fried shrimp sambal) • Ikan Penyet (smashed fried pomfret!) • Nonya Chap Chye (braised cabbage with beancurd skin, mushrooms and black fungus) • Bubur Hitam (black glutinous rice dessert) • Chef's Special Sambal Belacan steamed rice Fat Belly Address: 10 Jalan Serene, Unit 01-04, Singapore 258748 #fatbellysg #sgunited #stayhomeforsg #savefnbsg #burpple

So good! Fat Belly has impeccable service and a stylish, intimate setting. We ate our food at the bar, an appropriate distance away from each other for the purposes of social distancing. The food came quickly and was DELICIOUS. Our sides came first. The creamed kale was my partner’s favourite and mine was the pomme puree. The pomme puree in particular was a smooth, buttery, perfect side for the tender, juicy and flavourful steaks (we had the Deckle and Denver) that was our main course. The cheesecake we had for dessert was also impeccable. It melted in the mouth and had the perfect touch of sweetness. I absolutely would love to come here again.

Delicious Food! The steaks we had here were excellent. The cuts were of great quality (I personally preferred the tenderness of the Deckle) and they were cooked to textbook perfection. We wanted to try something different, so we opted for the Creamed Kale and Pomme Puree instead of the Truffle Fries. Both were great but I enjoyed the kale more because it nicely soaked up the sauce while still retaining its crunchiness. The burnt cheesecake we shared for dessert was also delicious, and we felt the berries and honey were a nice touch to compliment the rich creaminess of the cake. All in all, a great meal. Highly recommended.

Leberkäse German meatloaf that...tasted very much like American SPAM/ Asian luncheon meat. Slightly underwhelming as I’d expected pure minced meat blend and more solid “bite” to the meat loaf. That aside, it was rather flavourful (tho a tad salty and oily). I love how the restaurant allows flexibility for diners to swap their sides. Instead of potato salad, I got my favourite spatzle! As a result, this meal was kinda like Hong Kong - style brekky of noodles, luncheon and egg if you ask me!

Nürnberg sausages The boy missed the charcoal-grilled sausages we had in Germany. By comparison, it’s no where near from the best we’ve had, in our opinion. But objectively, these lil’ rolls were flavourful on their own! For sides, we went for sauerkraut and knödel, the german potato dumpling. The knödel here actually tasted way better than the ones we had in Germany (served plain). This, however, came mixed with some veggies kneaded into a dough ball and flavoured with other secret German-y seasoning. Be sure to order some 🍻 to go hand-in-hand!

Cordon Bleu (with Burpple Beyond!) Ordering was a breeze here, with highly attentive staff. My friend and I both got cordon bleu, an apple-gin concoction and a lychee martini. Drinks were pretty mild, but a great, sweet way to start the night. Food came hot and fresh; it tasted great with mustard. Unfortunately the pork was too dry, and the food felt very repetitive overtime with the constant chewing (cause too tough) and small amount of greens. Plus point would be the oozey cheese. I wouldn’t order this again though. Total bill with Burpple Beyond for 2 drinks and 2 meals came up to $77.

Grilled Chicken Chop ($26) One look can see that this won't be a filling dish. But I realized there's mash potato underneath the chicken chop after I moved it a bit. Taste okay. The meat is still easily cut but the mash potato isn't good. Doesn't have any potato taste. Oh! They actually give everyone a bread on table first before our order are ready. Customer service wise is good. But the food are just meh I guess. Not worth to visit again for the price.

Borsch Soup from Shaslik Restaurant! One of my favourite soups in the world. Like some kind of magical cross between minestrone soup/tomato soup/beef stew, it is delicious beyond words. Could probably just drink this soup every day as my meal. The soft fluffy bun served with their soup is also so yummy!! Add on that dollop of sour cream and a little side of butter, and I'm in heaven. #halfeatenblog #borschsoup #shashlik #burpple

Fish & Chips from Shashlik Restaurant! The mains here have improved, in my opinion. Was never a fan of their main dishes before, but I enjoyed them this time! Love the attention to detail - the tartar sauce served in a little sauce cup and the metal squeezer for the lemon. The fish was nicely breaded and fried. My only grouse would be the thick-cut fries, which were slightly soggy and greasy. Strange because the fish was perfect. Overall I thought their lunch set was very worth it! Price: $16.80 for lunch set (inclusive of main + soup + coffee/tea) #halfeatenblog #shashlik #fishandchips #burpple
