Random found a newly open cafe in central.. HOT FILTERED COFFEE: Strong brew coffee; not acidic; suppose to be towards fruity side but my poor coffee taste bud cannot taste that; nonetheless a good cup of coffee.. PORTOBELLO SANDWICH: Portobello mushroom, cheese & greens sandwiched between 2 toast; simple and flavorful; thin and well-toasted bread; mushroom is juicy.. BIBIMBAP NOODLE: Cold and refreshing Korean style glass noodles; simple yet flavorful and appetising; mild spicy.. MILK OOLONG TEA: Well balanced milk and tea taste; light taste; milk fragrance and milk after-taste.. Overall a satisfied meal in a cosy and simple-looking cafe; very good place to chill during tea time instead as food portion is very small; quality > quantity; service is excellent.. #platform #burpple #coffee #tea #portobellosandwich #bibimbapnoodle #jaslynfoodinstagram

For a Midday Respite in the CBD Stop by Amoy Street for a midday tipple or a refreshing pick-me-up in this aesthetic cafe. Get their sweet and creamy Ice Matcha Latte ($7) or the tangy Pear 165 ($10 non-alcoholic, $16 alcoholic) for a fizzy concoction of pear, pink peppercorn and chamomile. Try the refreshing Bibimbap ($8) — think glass noodles served cold with carrot strips, an abundance of seaweed, sesame seeds and an appetizing citrusy sauce to tie it all together. Thunder Tea Rice One of the better ( or “ Gao” lei Cha soups I have tried .. with a very thick like consistency - not sure if starch or glutinous rice was added to blend the soup . The grounded sesame flavour shone brightly and was delightful . The vegetables were also crisp and green and not greasy. Ask for their homemade chilli because that is a star on its own as well . For lei Cha enthusiasts , before you get disappointed , this dish is only available on Wednesdays . My only issue is the vibes of fortune centre - you won’t go there for no reason .

Thunder Tea Rice Rare as it is , i jump for joy when I find Hakka thunder tea rice in singapore. However, most stalls operated by Food courts do not meet the cut because of the generous amounts of oil incorporated into the vegetables ( to cook them fast ) by you know who. Instead of having a healthy meal , it may turn out disastrous. So this thunder tea rice at fortune centre is my personal Favourite. The vegetables are prepared with very little and almost no trace of oil and the amounts of vegetables are generous. What's most worthy to mention is the huge comforting bowl of basil and mint soup that accompanies the rice and yes - it is served pipping hot. Note that thunder tea rice is served only every Tuesday. Don't forget to ask for a portion of their home made vegetarian sambal - it adds a nice dimension to the vegetables and rice. The best thunder tea rice in Singapore in terms of value ( SGD6.50), health consideration and comfort ( air con seating ). Ordinarily I wouldn't venture to fortune centre ( because there is no reason to ) but for food this good and comforting , I am most willing :)

So I tried the #vegetarian version of #bakkutteh with noodles ($6.50, only available on Thursdays) recently during lunch at work. Was served a generous serving of vegetables and a few pieces of mock meat in a tasty soup base - surprisingly better than I expected! Heh, but I still prefer my usual order of organic soba from the store though! 🙊 Btw, blog updated with a movie review on the Korean comedy, Fashion King: www.mitsueki.wordpress.com

[📍Afterglow by Anglow] After seeing several mix reviews online as well as seeing them featured on foodking "healthy food" episode, I was a little curious to try their #eatclean food (especially since they also serve raw vegan food which sounds interesting). However, i was quite hesitant to try due to mix reviews online about how the portion was really small and how raw vegan food was an acquired taste. We ordered the: 1. Avocado kimchi rolls ($14) -Served with almond sushi 'rice', housemade kimchi and topped with avocado. - My mum felt that the sushi was too dry for her liking as they used nuts rather than rice. For me, i felt that the kimchi did add a crunchy and juicy texture to the entire dish. The dish wasnt mindblowingly tasty and tasted pretty average. Its definitely drier than the avocado sushi that has sticky moist japanese rice. Having been in korea for months for my semester exchange, i felt that the kimchi taste was too mild for my liking and wasnt very authentic. -3/5 2. Acai Bowl ($15) -Acai berry, raw museli, seasonal fruits and raw berry puree. -This acai bowl was TOOOO SWEET for our liking. It totally lacked the sour accent of berries. The raw museli was too hard for us that we didnt finished it. Overall we didnt enjoy it as it felt really one dimension and all we could remember about this dish was just the word SWEET. I felt that the sweetness masked the acai profile (as we couldnt taste the fruity red wine flavour with chocolate overtones that most acai blend have). -The portion is really very small (probably between the size of a medium to large acai bowl) and for $15, it is a tad too pricey, especially since the ingredients/toppings were very little. -0/5 Worth it: 1/5. Yeap i have to agree with the online reviews that the small portion certainly does not justify its price (with 10% svc). Also, the taste was below/just average and hence i wouldnt pay so much for it. Ps. We went to try as we saw that they have 50% discount for EATIGO users at weird timings (ie 3-4.30pm) if you are interested to try then i feel using the eatigo deal would be better. Taste: 1.5/5 Overall: 2.5/10 No go😖😖 not for us😅 Can go Must go #burpple

Salted Caramel Two thin slices of salted caramel cake with interesting bits of nuts and fruit - dragon fruit, blueberries on top. The cake is smaller than it looks in the image but heavy to eat. It is not too sweet and contains honey (so do let them know if you can’t take honey) which I liked.

Let's Eat Clean! The staff thoughtfully asking about any food allergy prior to ordering. Guilt free Afterglow Avocado Kimchi Rolls--creatively replace sushi rice with almond 'bits'. The kefir water is a little pricey though, perhaps should opt for their cold pressed juice or other freshly made drinks.

Grilled Japanese Barracuda and Chrysanthemum Flower Donabe Rice ($38++). I love this Japanese claypot rice with deep flavours of dashi, soy sauce, Japanese sake and fish, lifted by floral notes of edible chrysanthemum petals. It's a pot filled with Japanese Barracuda, a seasonal mild-flavoured white fish from Yamaguchi. 🔸 This is one of MAI by Dashi Master Marusaya newly launched range of Japanese donabe rice, featuring the Mai's specialty dashi made from 2-year aged katsuobushi alongside premium the key ingredient depending on the claypot you picked - such as matsutake donabe ($48), chicken donabe ($48, like local chicken rice), and wagyu donabe ($58). 🔸 Each donabe rice was cooked to order over slow fire, and took approximately 30 minutes for flavours to sink in.  This creates rich, deep flavours in the rice dishes with crispy rice at the sides.

[📍Living Wholesome Vegetarian, Singapore] This is the BEST 雷茶 (thunder rice tea) that I've eaten. I love how all his ingredients are very clean/light tasting and super refreshing (not too oily or salty). Other versions that I've tried elsewhere are usually too oily or salty for my tastebuds and tend to have those jelat feels afterwards. One super unique selling point of this shop is that they have a beehoon version instead of the rice. The beehoon has a super fragrant sesame oil aroma and is light tasting. As a person who tend to feel very bloated when i eat too much rice, i am so glad that there is thunder tea beehoon version because now i get to satisfy my 雷茶 cravings and have the whole plate to myself without being overly full by carbs. Also i love that for their ingredients, they have savoury sweet chye poh and azuki beans as well as winged beans << which is different from other stalls. The tea soup itself is super aromatic and the basil+mint werent too overpowering. Also, their version has the perfect balance herbaceous minty taste and roasted nutty profile. I love how its slightly savoury too. Beehoon set: $5/$8 Rice set: $6/$9 The small portion by itself is really super filling and is quite huge. So worth! The boss is also really friendly and i love the rock music that he blasts. HAHHA super cool personality. The lady boss is also really nice and friendly! Worth it: 5/5 For the portion, taste and service, this is really worth it!!! I feel that its cheaper than other thunder tea rice stalls out there (ie. Sunny choice cafe version which cost $9.50) and the taste is even better. Taste: 4.75/5 (minus a little because i felt that the tau pok was a little too overly-fried and hence it was a bit too heard and i couldnt taste the fragrance of the soy) Overall: 9.75/10 No go Can go Must go😊😊YASS #burpple

Vegetarian Bee Hoon From one of my fav leichafan stalls at Bukit Timah hawker centre, this vegetarian bee hoon was yummy and chokeful of wholesome veges. Priced at $3, the portion size was generous and very filling. For those who enjoy a good bowl of leichafan, their leichafan is quite good too and is worth a try.

Thunder Tea Rice $6 I seldom take vegetarian food, attracted by the queue, I decided to give this a shot. The ingredients were fresh. Tried the Thunder tea on its own but the taste was a little too funky for me so I decided to pour into the rice and mix together. It tastes much better when you mix everything together. It’s good, healthy and very filling.
