My morning transcended from great to awesome with this tasting flight.
What a marvelous combination of good beans, skilled preparation, hippy place and hearty interaction.
Pop in, enjoy a cuppa as friendly Bob and team chat with you and share about the coffees and the well-thought-through space.
Beurre (pronounced ‘burr’), an innovative French-Sin fusion gourmet.
Had the Burpple 1-for-1 4-course sets + freshly shucked oysters, truffle Escargot and signature Stuffed Black Chicken to share.
All the dishes were awesome! 58* Pork Belly, signature Stuffed Black Chicken, Chef’s Special Oyster, and freshly shucked oysters (from Hokkaido!!) were outstanding!
Lots of restros have mala inspired dishes, most were good attempts but have much room to improve. Beurre executed the 58* Pork Belly perfectly, balancing the spice, fragrance and pork belly really well. The mala/spicy roasted quinoa on top adds a crispy dimension to the dish, so flavors, aroma, texture and visual are all on point.
Signature Stuffed Black Chicken is a must have! I’ve only had black chicken in herbal soups, this is the first time I ate a roasted version of it. With truffle, foie gras and glutinous rice stuffed into it, again another innovative and marvelously executed dish.
Our Burpple 4 course set included
• Chef’s Special Oyster
• Scallop Grenobloise
• 58* Pork Belly
• Basque Cheesecake
Special callout to Samantha - kudos for the warm and attentive service 👍🏼
This is a trip to heaven. Or Atlantis.
Fresh, seafood-briney-sweet, succulent lobster chunks, umami bursting ikura and pods of firm, sweet creamy uni.
1/10 of our 10-course omakase dinner
Ok, can be improved.
Lobster was ok but not succulent nor flavorful
Aglio Olio was too was ok.. but spaghetti was dense, not the nicely cooked, firm and Q kind of al dente. It also wasn’t flavorful, lacking in both garlic and spice.
Have been contemplating trying this and putting it off for more than a year. I’m finally here to try it.
Happy to note that the batter was crispy and has the flavor of squid ink.
Regrettably, I found that the fish fillet was one that tastes and feels like those frozen slimy pasty nonsense fillet that doesn’t taste and feel like fish. Another affirmation that SG doesn’t have good fish and chips.
The kimchi slaw is not bad but has no flavors relevant to kimchi.
My advice - skip this and stick to the fries.
Service is not bad, but on the cold and aloof end of the scale.
A tad too sweeter than my preference and can’t detect the booze. I ordered a shot of espresso to add to it, and it was much improved
Finally tried this famed dish we kept hearing GR shout about.
It’s prolly one of the more expensive ones in Singapore, but thankfully it wasn’t disappointing. The crust was buttery and flaky and the beef was medium rare-ish. I like that the flavors of the crust and beef were well balanced and complements each other. The beef was nicely cooked, seasoned and juicy. It’s also quite substantial, we shared this as our mains along with a side of chicken liver and foie gras parfait.
Don’t really have a base for comparison as this was my first crab roll. Crab meat was fresh and sufficient, briney sweetness of crab was prominent. I’d come back!
Better than average! Have been looking forward to Luke’s opening, and I’m glad to say I wasn’t disappointed. Ok I wasn’t blown away either, but objectively, the chunks of lobster were fresh, succulent and sufficient. Lobster chunks were nestled snuggly in the lightly toasted, crispy-on-the-outside-fluffy-on-the-inside roll. The seasoning was light, bringing out the lobster’s flavor well. Hope quality maintains or improved! I’d go back once in a while!
Don’t know about you, but I like my burger patties thick, juicy, beefy, medium rare and flavorful. These 2 sad skinnies are thoroughly cooked and so lacking in flavor. It’s sourdough bun was bland too. Only thing that has flavor was the salty fries. The service and ambience too were unenjoyable. You’d be better off eating McD’s. I had to buy Pizza Hut drumlets home to soothe the dissatisfaction.
if you like HiG, let’s agree to disagree. I’m putting HiG in the same meh camp as Shake Shack 🙅🏻♀️
This bread. It’s criminal. I don’t usually eat the bread served before meals to save on calories. But this bread. It’s soft, warm, fluffy, fragrant and yet there’s a chewy quality, absolutely the best bread in Singapore. And despite trying, I can’t stop eating it.
This main deserve a shoutout - first time I’ve ever tried Golden Beetroot! The Guinea Fowl breast was nicely cooked, marination well absorbed, while retaining a firm bite and a little juice. The bed of heirloom roots was thoroughly delectable, contrasting nicely with the fowl
