Poulét - The Amazing Fresh Roast Chicken BUGIS
The amazing French roasted chicken. Initially we were quite skeptical to dine in here since there's no one in the restaurant. But we decided to give it a try since we were craving for some French dishes. We ordered the set for 2 for $67.56 which includes their truffle shoestring fries, a mushroom soup, signature half roast chicken with mushroom sauce, a chicken carbonara pasta and a homemade tiramisu and two cups of drinks.
The french roasted chicken indeed was their signature. The chicken was roasted so on point that the meat was literally falling of the bone, so tender, yet not overcooked. Since it was roasted, we were prepared for a dry chicken meat. The chicken itself was juicy, tender, and simply just pure joy. The acocmpanying cream was indeed creamy, light and couples well with the toasted chicken.
The mushroom soup was creamy, rich and comforting for the tummy. The toast croutons were just meant to be there. Honestly it was one of the best mushroom soups out there!
The tiramisu wasn't served in their classic jar probably because of COVID19 but it is still good! The thick dusting of cocoa powder definitely aided in the richness of the cake. The ratio of sponge to cream was essentially perfect, making the tiramisu close to perfect to indulge in.
Their carbonara was also great, but the portion might be too less to be a main meal. Since its not the niche of the restaurant, I'd leave it as it is. The truffle fries were served with a rich truffle aroma, and indeed, it was rich and coated with parmesan and truffle oil. It was intriguing, earthy and tastes just right.
Overall, we'd say that although it costed us $67.56, we were happy with the quality of the food we were served. We'd happily give it a rating of 8/10 for the food, but perhaps 7/10 for VFM! Definitely will be going back!

CHICHA San Chen
After our dinner, we were really craving for something sweet and refreshing. Knowing that there's a new boba store around the corner, we decided to give it a try - good choice! However, it can be a little pricey (since it boasts a 3-star Michelin star equivalent award).
We ordered the 25% sugar Mango Osmanthus Oolong tea with coconut jelly ($5.20) and the Fresh M with Brown Sugar Bubble ($5). the mango osmanthus tea was rich, refreshing and blends well with the mango flavour. The freshly brewed tea was strong and fragrant, with a pleasant aftertaste lingering around refreshingly.
The brown sugar milk tea was sweet and creamy but might have been too sweet for my personal liking. However the pearls were chewy and the tea had a caramelized taste (if you have a sweet tooth, you'd like this)!
Overall, the ambience of the store was really good but a pity since due to the COVID19 we weren't able to wait in store and witness the making of our teas. The glass windows were a little too dusty and was immediately noticeable but their signature teapresso did impressively catch our eyes though!
Overall, we felt that it was a little overpriced. Although our drinks tasted great, the price wouldn't be something we'd go back for soon! Maybe occasionally, but definitely not a routine.
We'd give it a rating of 8/10 for taste but 6/10 for VFM.

Monster Curry - Jurong Point
The first thing people come here for is their famously unique Japanese curry dishes. but their overly delicious dessert - honey toast is so unknown that its such a shame. we came here specially for its dessert - we skipped the curry part hahaha. we waited quite some time for our order to arrive but I guess its justifiable given that it was the peak hour. I've tried this before some time ago and decided to bring some of my friends along.
we ordered the tangy mango honey toast and caramel with mashed mellow honey toast. well well well, it surely did not disappoint! the honey toast was fluffy, coated with a layer of butter (we think) which makes it fluffy yet soft. topped with ice cream and real mangoes, we all agreed that the honey toast was sufficient as a dish on its own. the ice cream was vanilla flavored, which obviously perfectly complemented the honey toast.
even though it was the peak hour, the restaurant setting and ambience nonetheless made it enjoyable to dine in with, alongside the friendly staff.
we give it a rating of 8/10 for taste but probably 6/10 for its vfm at $12.90 on average per toast.

Astons Clarke Quay
well, astons is always known for being a VFM western food chain, especially if you're on a budget. but bonus for us this weekend! we were so tired after walking around and just wanted to settle for something quick around The Central. Most shops are closed, and we didn't want to spur on Chinese restaurants. As someone whove lived in Australia for quite some time, a plate like this is really costly. But this plate here with such a bonus scenery only costed us $12.90, of course, with the complete-the-meal set where there is an additional mushroom soup and a nice little juice.
For small eaters, you can simply get this plate of lemon lime chicken for $10.90. The best part of it is that it is inclusive of two side dishes, ranging from potato salad to Mac and cheese. The lemon lime chicken was grilled almost to perfection, it was tender, juicy and flavourful. The mac & cheese also tasted freshly made, richly in cheese.
For the mushroom soup, this is the real deal. It is creamy with lots of little pieces of mushrooms and tasted really mushroomy. It is coupled with a golden toasted bread that definitely seems crunchier than it looks.
Well, even though Astons is often known as the budget western restaurant to locals, this restaurant serves food that are definitely higher quality than to be called 'budget'!
Overall the dining experience and ambience were pleasant with a nice scenery out while having our meal, overlooking the river, constituting to the perfect afternoon. Priced at $12.90 for both the lime chicken and the mushroom soup inclusive of the drink, we'd give it a rate of 8/10 and conclude it to be very VFM!

SongFa Bak Kut Teh | Singapore | Habourfront
We came across this Bak Kut Teh chain while shopping. Props to the bf since he wanted BKT so badly. We ordered the pork rib soup, coupled with dough fritters and also the braised pork belly. The first taste was just beyond my expectation. The soup is peppery with an immensely rich flavour. The additional plus is that this store allows unlimited refills of their signature soup. We think we've had more than a kettle of refills haha. I proudly proclaim it as the best peppery BKT I've had, at least for now. Coupled with the dough fritters, once it is immersed in the soup, they still remain their crispness together with the soup. This was such a comfort for the stomach.
Their braised pork belly is worth a try too. The meat was tender, succulent and flavourful. Most importantly, it goes well with the soup. It might not be the best we've tried but it was still good. The overall ambience were also relaxing, simple, but authentic.
Over all for 2 pax we spent a total of $36. It came with 2 bowls of soup, 2 bowls of rice, dough fritters, braised pork belly and also 2 cups of drinks. We rate this at 8/10. Overall we think that it's really VFM and we'd definitely come back again! 😁

IKEA SINGAPORE BREAKFAST
IKEA is obviously well known for their signature beef meatballs all over the world - but little know of their ultra VFM breakfast French Toast!
The French toast on their breakfast board were so tempting and we decided to try it out. That certainly did not disappoint. We absolutely loved the French toast. It was chewy yet crispy, rich and not too eggy. The addition of syrup definitely kicked off its savory nature. The sausage coupled was one of the best sausages we've had outside, it wasn't too meaty, and strangely enough the first bite was rather crispy, tasting freshly cooked and not processed. The hash brown were crispy and warm, which was a surprise given the fast-food-like nature of IKEA's restaurant. The red beans were okay and warm, with some cherry tomatoes to add up to its more than perfect breakfast combination.
We also ordered 2 HL milk and even got two complementary breakfast CocoCrunch cereals 😂😂. Overall for just $5 for each plate, we had a very decent and VFM breakfast! Would totally travel solely for this French Toast! We obviously also got the classic meatball, which had enough credits and is popular enough without our review.
We give it a rating of 8/10, with their ultra VFM breakfast toast and its definitely worth a try other than the meatballs! 😄😄

Blk 85 Fengshan Food Centre | Ah Balling Peanut Soup
First off, sorry for the pretty unaesthetic picture - I was too hungry! And also, this smells so good. We've heard about this store for quite some time now, and we finally tried it for ourselves. Since there are many reviews on the fillings of the rice ball, I did not include a bitten version of the rice ball, instead I'd focus on the texture (its the most important component of tangyuan isn't it?!) We ordered 6 rice balls with the peanut soup base.
Contrary to the clear soup that is often served with, Ah Balling served a generous portion of peanuts in each bowl. The handmade peanut soup had a strong and flavourful peanut taste. This traditional dessert served was so chewy and as soon as I realise it, I've already eaten 4 tangyuans leaving the bf with just two. Anyways, I repeat, the rice balls were so chewy. It was almost that you could taste the perfect mixture of the glutinous dough. The first bite of the rice ball has the rich peanut oozing out all over in my mouth. This bowl really took me by surprise by how suitable and comfortable it was as a dessert dish after a heavy meal.
There are four soup bases, peanut, almond, ginger and longan to choose from. The five different rice ball flavors were peanut, red bean, matcha, yam and sesame.
Priced at just $3 for 6 glutinous rice balls with their generous soup base, we give it a rating of 9/10! It was ULTRAAAA vfm!

PLAZA SINGAPURA | NAMNAM NOODLE BAR
Was walking around Plaza Singapura when I stumbled upon this open aired restaurant. Since I was craving for some noodle soup, I decided to give this Pho a try. Mind you, as someone who've been to borh Northern and Southern Vietnam and tried their authentic Pho, I have really high expectations of Pho. I ordered the Pho Australian Beef Slices & Balls. I was initially skeptical of it but wow the first sip of the broth blew me away. Don't be fooled by the clear or rather bland appearance of the broth - it was thin, nutritious and impossibly fragrant. The addition of Lime further enhanced the citric flavour of the otherwise already flavourful broth. The wheat noodles were soft, easy to chew and flavourful. Just wow! Although a little pricey than other Vietnamese restaurants selling at $12.90, this was the real deal and I would definitely come back for more.
I'd give this bowl a rating of 9/10! It was VFM!

CHAI CHEE PORK PORRIDGE BLK 85 FENGSHAN FOOD CENTRE
Hey yall! Enough of the bakchormees here The congee is the real deal here. It is one best congee we've ever had. Even though it is probably more common as a breakfast item, we ordered this for our.
It was the bestest choice. It was rich in flavor despite its seemingly plain color, and they are so generous in their portion. The effort made into cooking each individual porridge bowl, the tenderness of the pork, the fragrant sesame oil richly seeping deeper into the porridge was really stunning. it was such a comfort food for our tummy. The pork congee was thick and cooked to a perfect consistency, even reminding the mister of his mom's homemade porridge when he was young. The option for adding 50c for an egg is definitely a great choice, adding a creamy texture to the perfect comfort food. Overall it was cheap, filling, rich in flavour and truly a comfort food.
The mister gave it a ratings of 8/10 (or so I derived from seeing how he enjoyed it) haha! we conclude that this pork porridge bowl that cost $3.50 was super VFM.

As mentioned in our last review, here's the picture of the wild mushroom soup we ordered.
THE BEDOK MARKETPLACE | THE NAUGHTY CHEF
Oh gosh what a hidden gem! The ambience of this hawker centre by itself is just suitable for a Friday evening. There were music, smells of BBQ, and it is an absolutely pleasant place that doesn't cost a fortune to catch up with some friends.
Back to The Naughty Chef, as an avid lover of blue cheese, it is just pure joy randomly stumbling upon a place that offers the unique blue cheese as fheir cheese base. Most importantly, they aren't even stingy about their portion. It was simply mouth-watering and with the natural saltiness of blue cheese, initially we thought that adding a slice of ham would not do good. But we were so wrong. It was a perfect combination!
The truffle fries is worth a mention too, it was freshly fried and the truffle portion was very generous which allowed us to fully enjoy the deep musky aroma. The wild mushroom soup was rich and thick, accompanied with a crispy garlic bread for dipping.
Honestly, its too good that we just have to share.
We'd really rate it a 9/10 with our fussy tastebuds!

Came to The Bedok Marketplacr for the 2nd time and decided to try out a new store - The Burning Oak.
Ordered the combination bowl at $16 with wagyu beef and pork cheeks. Frankly speaking, apart from the pork cheeks, the rest is like uhhh. The pork cheeks were really good. When you first taste it, there's this strong taste of BBQ. It's juicy, and simply tender. It's just mouth-wateringly good. The Wagyu was not wow-worthy, but it was not bad. It wasn't as well-marinated and juicy and I'd expect it to be.
The hawker has really good ambience of this hipster-hidden drinking place and we are able to just sit around and enjoy our evening talking. Would probably not go for the combination bowl next time. Would give them another try soon!
Overall, I'd say its better to just give their pork cheeks don a try and not spend extra to include the Wagyu. So for this combination bowl, I'd probably say its not that value for money but it'll definitely be VFM if it's solely just the pork cheeks don.
We'd give it a rating (based on the combi bowl) a rating of 6/10!
