All around quite delicious. The standouts were the yam puffs (super crispy but with yam that melted away in the mouth...), liushabao and charsiew sou. Congee was also delicious, as was the xiaolongbao. The carrot cake probably fared the worst - I like mine more golden brown and with crispy bits. Not pictured were the soufflé balls with red bean and banana (fave of all time!), egg tarts and liushabao. Oh, and it was just us 3 girls for all that food. Oops.

We like the Honey Mustard Cheese Egg Roll ($9.80) at Masizzim! The praise-worthy combination of the saltiness of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese with the sweetness of the honey mustard 🙌🏻 Plus, the egg rolls were fluffy and moist. Mhmm that's the way to enjoy your eggs 👍🏻 But remember to polish these up quickly before the cheese hardens!

Available at $5.00 for 4 small buns, it might be considered expensive. But their buns are filled with liu sha that burst out when you bite into it. Taste just heavenly!

Mount Elizabeth food stop. And they are on entertainer. A set with fries is $10.

Hidden away in a corner of Ngee Ann city, this hidden cafe deserves your attention with it's selection of Japanese inspired food.

For $14.80, the double decker tonkatsu sandwich is a huge undertaking. Built with 2 crunchy toasts, slightly spicy mustard, and 2 crispy breaded pork katsu, it is wonderful if massive, even for a big eater like me.

It was the perfect dinner experience having the Deluxe ($19.90 before service charge) buffet at this recently halal cafe. Extremely worth the money because of the wide array of food choices and they are all very, very delicious! Free flow drinks (thai milk tea, bandung, iced lemon tea!) & icecream too! They even have a DIY mini pizza where patrons can cook their own pizza in the wood oven! Indulge & upgrade to their more expensive buffets for more seafood choices like crab and divine oysters! But I personally feel the Deluxe buffet is sufficient for a balanced meal 😆

.
With over 50 items in the buffet line-up, it's near impossible to try everything in 1 sitting.
.
The highlight in this hidden find is their marinated pork belly, featuring 13 different marinades.
.
I also like the tteokbokki here, which has a lovely sweet savoury spicy flavour.

Tight on cash but bent on impressing your date? Head to this cosy restaurant near Kembangan MRT for quality Western fare at very affordable prices. In general, the pastas are more competitively priced than their meat mains yet equally tasty — try the Duck Confit Tagliatelle ($16) or Gnocchi ($17) with roasted corn and corn puree. If you have a larger budget, go straight for the Flat Iron Steak ($28), a seasonal dish served only from Fridays to Sundays. While lean, the beef is incredibly tender, and comes topped with zingy chimichurri. For dessert, have the Popcorn Flan ($13) to share. It's like popcorn, but made so much better with trimmings like hazelnut brittle and caramel foam.
Avg Price: $50 per couple

A really innovative twist on the ubiquitous French dish, it featured surprisingly tender, juicy duck pieces atop Tagliatelle tossed in a hazelnut cream sauce. Loved the bits of hazelnut in it which added a crunchy texture, as well as the sprinkle of Parmesan sautéed spinach which completed the dish. #burpple

It really took me a long while to give this a try — finally had it because this comes as a weekend special that comes in limited servings. This certainly did not disappoint in true South Union Park style — the Flank Steak is pretty lean while chewy but absolutely tender with a smoky crust while it sits atop a sweet potato mash that provides a flavour contrast against the meat. The olive oil manages to smoothen the sweet potato mash a bit for a more luscious feel, binds it well with both sweet potato and the beef to cut the sweetness and meatiness of the dish to ensure everything rounds of nicely. Another new found favourite at the favourite place for well-executed, delicious, fare made with the heart and from scratch.
