Finally giving the #bellywellyjellyfrappe a try! It's definitely something that I can see myself slurping on if I need an alternative go-to frappe :)

Heard about the truffle fries here and just had to give it a try together with my boyf. For someone who hasn't really experienced truffle to its fullest (except for the truffle pizza at Spizza which is oh so yummy), the truffle fries here doesn't disappoint at all which makes Krave the go-to cafe if you wanna have your virgin truffle fries experience. The thick-cut fries were seasoned with just the right amount of truffle oil, and the portion was generous. The fragrance when the bucket is served at your table is enough to make you salivate and be eager to dig in. Yes, it's that good!

We completed our Krave experience with a glass of Behind Bars, a potent mix of Mars bars, chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce. This is perfect if you're a chocolate lover. The chocolately blend is rich, smooth and not overwhelming or sickeningly sweet.

Overall, Krave is a cafe that is highly recommended if you're looking for affordable and delicious eats. Bonus points go to the Malay-Western infused menu that isn't something very common here, which only goes to prove that Krave isn't one of your run off the mill cafes that doesn't live up to its name. Definitely coming here again to try the other dishes and of course, getting the truffle fries too.

Situated within Phoenix Park in the Tanglin area, Boufe (the word a portmanteau of "boutique" and "cafe") Boutique Cafe shares a space with Ohvola boutique. The usual brunch fare such as Eggs Benedict, Brioche French Toast and Croque Madame are served, but you should really try Boufe's Big Breakfast or "Triple B" ($21). Creamy scrambled eggs, sauteed mushrooms, bacon, sausages and a freshly baked buttery croissant — not a bad way to start your day at all.They serve fantastic pastries as well, of which the Strawberry Shortcake ($8) and Citron Tart ($5.50) stand out. Given the quality of the food and the killer combination of spaciousness, chic decor and warm ambience, this place will only become more popular with time.

Because the prata here is so darn good, this humble stall commands a queue, especially on weekends. Everything is made from scratch using fresh, good quality ingredients, which is, sadly, not easy to find at prata stalls these days. Freshly made and fried, the prata here is crispy on the outside, chewy, buttery, very slightly sweet and most of all, not greasy. The kosong is good, but even better is their Coin Prata (essentially prata nuggets, 6 pieces for $3.50) — thicker, crispier, chewier, fluffier. Paired with curry that's spicier than the norm, this is one kickass breakfast. Besides prata, they also have nasi briyani, mee goreng, and the like.

Violet Herbs is a modern European, two-storey semi-formal fine dining restaurant on Tras Street with a unique emphasis on the use of herbs in their food and signature cocktails. Perfect for date nights with its elegant and purple-themed decor, Violet Herbs offers an a la carte as well as six- or eight-course degustation menus. Go for the incredible, melt-in-your-mouth and buttery Marinated Red Miso Cod ($33), the Lobster Risotto & Fregola Sarda ($36) and end the meal on a sweet note with the Textures of Lychee Panna Cotta ($12).

Joining the eateries in Bukit Timah Plaza's new extension, Rise & Grind Coffee Co. offers both indoor and alfresco seating and serves coffee, brunch fare and a small selection of mains. With few cafes in this area, this is certainly a welcome addition. For brunch, go for the super photogenic and delightfully tasty Ocean's Thirteen ($17) — smoked salmon, poached eggs, asparagus, brioche toast, beetroot yogurt and yuzu hollandaise sauce. Massive trending points for having both beetroot and yuzu in one dish, and making it work well too! For lunch or dinner, go for the more substantial Shakshouka ($16) — lamb merguez sausage, baked egg in tomato sauce, feta cheese with wholemeal pita — or the Tom Yum Pasta ($16).

Sharing a space with Ssiksin Chicken at nex, Snowman Desserts is a Korean cafe serving bingsu along with a variety of Korean desserts such as Hotteok and J-Cone ($3 each). Choose from a wide variety of toppings to have with the smooth milk ice such as strawberry, melon, chocolate and red bean. Have one of their Original Churros ($2.50) which are freshly made in-house, and go for the Mango Bingsu ($12.90) which has some of the fattest mango chunks seen on a bingsu!

Sharing a space with Snowman Desserts at nex, Ssiksin Chicken offers your usual selection of fried chicken as well as an assortment of plates for sharing. For those who feel that Korean joints always serve ridiculously massive portions of fried chicken, Ssiksin Chicken offers their birds in three serving sizes — 2, 4 and 8 pieces — making it easier for both solo binging and feasting in smaller groups. Choose from flavours such as Original Fried Chicken ($8 for 2 pieces), Spicy Seasoned Chicken or Soy Sauce Chicken ($9 for 2 pieces).

Hopping on the froyo bandwagon is Yogart, serving froyo and artisanal popsicles. The concept is familiar – yoghurt parfaits that can be customised with your choice of fresh fruit, crunchy toppings and sauce. The Yogurt Bliss allows you to choose three types of fresh fruit, one crunchy topping and a sauce to complement the creamy, slightly tangy froyo. They also serve waffles and yoghurt popsicles, perfect for when you're in a group and not everyone feels like froyo.

FatCat has been making waves in the local creamery scene with their Gourmet Waffle: charcoal waffle with salted egg yolk sauce that seems to go with just about everything, and their popular Butter Beer Ice Cream. The buttermilk waffles here are crisp, light and airy. The Butter Beer Ice Cream will delight those who love beer, with its strong flavour. If you're not a fan of beer, opt for Watermelon Soju or Hay & Honey! They also do interesting plated desserts like the Banana Nutella (pictured) and Tarte Au Citron (brandied Cherry Sorbet, cherry gel, crumble, laksa leaf meringue, lemon curd and yogurt gel) that vary daily, with limited servings.

Hidden in Purvis Street, Rabbit Owl Depot is a small industrial-themed ice cream parlour dedicated to serving quality ice cream made with only the freshest ingredients. The flavours here are pretty conventional and may not stand out from the crowd, but the quality is outstanding. Their crispy, mad fluffy buttermilk waffles will keep you coming back for more, and should definitely be paired with ice cream – go for the Thai Coconut, Roasted Black Sesame or Earl Grey ice cream! At $9.50, you get two waffles and a scoop of ice cream – not shabby at all.

You can always count on Creamier for good ice cream and waffles. If you love ice cream or waffles and haven't been here, you're doing it all wrong. The ice cream here is exceedingly creamy, smooth and dense, and the waffles are crispy, fluffy and eggy. Go for the Banana Chocolate Chip Crumble, Thai Milk Tea and Roasted Pistachio — almost every flavour is good, actually. However, Creamier is also known to be awfully packed all the time due to space constraints, so it'll do you good to visit during off-peak hours!
