Truth be told, I've never had a nibble at Origin Bar until this tasting 🤭 I had high expectations, because it's Shangri-La after all.. & I've also enjoyed the food at Origin Grill multiple times + have brought friends & family there to feast together.
From the Bar Bites menu, 𝙻𝙰𝚁𝙶𝙴 section:
𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐨 ($18++)
🐔 Panko Fried Chicken, Kimchi Mayo, Cabbage, Chives
Thanks Evan (@indulgentism) for the invite & Team Origin Bar for the hospitality! 💕
The INFINITY cocktail menu is beautifully designed & a good read - admittedly, I didn't get to read through everything thoroughly that night. Will do so the next time I'm back 😉
𝐌𝐚 𝐓𝐨 𝐌𝐚 𝐓𝐨 ($26++)
🍅 Fords Gin Distilled Ketchup, Mezcal, Green Tomato
Thanks Evan (@indulgentism) for the invite & Team Origin Bar for the hospitality! 💕
I would expect that not all of these "future-forward creations" would be my cup of tea, but from the brief read I had of their menu, I'm mostly curious to try.
𝐒𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡 & 𝐃𝐚𝐬𝐡 ($27++, left)
🥛 Whey Cordial, Raspberry, Amaretto, No. 3 Gin
𝐈 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐈𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐬 ($27++, right)
🧈 Burnt Butter, Aquavit, Berries, Highland Park 12

Shangri-la's Origin Bar has launched their newest cocktail menu - INFINITY! This adventurous menu captures the talented bartenders' far-fetched ideas in 18 unique drinks.
Here's a sneak peek of some of their creations that I had - & coincidentally, both of these are served on a neat coaster with a story behind them:
𝐅𝐀𝐐 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 ($27++, left)
🍑 Peach, Oolong, Cranberry Wine, Patron Silver
𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐚 ($25++, right)
🍎 Pine, Caramelised Apple, Coconut Water, Naked Malt Whisky

[B3] Prawn & Char Siew ($5.80 nett)
There are a total of 3 prawns & a lot more char siew hidden under the skin. Prawns had a great crunch to them, & charsiew was delicious. Would order this again!
Hope to try the special skins next time as that is something really unique.

In general, the cheung fun I had were alright. Would've liked a little bit more sauce, although these weren't dry by any means. Silky smooth skin was the best part.
The chilli is somewhat lacking - pales in comparison to my personal favourite cheung fun. Perhaps good for those who don't enjoy spicy food.
[A2] Egg & Veggie ($4.90 nett)
The veggie is a little odd to me from the contrasting texture perspective. Not sure how I feel about it. Personal preference, I reckon. Loved the egg though.

Unfortunately, Grandpa Cheung Fun didn't have the pink dragonfruit skin or green veggie skin (+$0.20nett each) that I wanted to try... So I just got the regular cheung fun.
Overall, I enjoyed what I had I would return to patronize this stall again!

The main courses are even more substantial than the appetizers (obviously)... I was so happy to be able to share them & try a greater variety than if I dined alone 🫶🏻
𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑭𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒔 / 𝑴𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒔
🇸🇬 Our Singapore Laksa ($34++)
🦐 Seafood Fried Hokkien Mee ($30++)
🐄 Angus Beef Short Rib Goulash ($54++)
I'm partial to the noodle dishes; the laksa & hokkien mee won my heart with their robust flavours & fresh seafood. Also, considering you're dining in a hotel, this is a good price point.. & these dishes were considerably cheaper than the goulash.

Check out some of the appetizers we had. While they are considered "bites", IMHO these are pretty substantial, & are great for sharing...
𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑩𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒔 / 𝑺𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒔
🦀 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐒𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 ($22++)
🍢 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐠 ($28++, choice of chicken or beef)
🍄 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐢 ($24++)

I've been having to host colleagues from overseas as of late.. Especially for business meals, I appreciate places where I can park everyone in one spot to have a good meal & drinks.
From this perspective, what's not to love here? The ambience here is warm & welcoming, while not being stuffy or snooty. Delicious food with good variety (both locally-inspired & otherwise), tasty cocktails, & all of this in a comfortable yet classy environment that is accessible & centrally located.

As you can tell, I hadn't sipped my way through the entire cocktail menu.. That just means the next time I return, I'll need to prioritize those 3 night-time drinks I didn't have 😂
𝑨𝒍𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒕 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓
☀️ 𝐓𝐣𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 ($22++) | Colombo Gin
𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒆
☀️ 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐲 ($22++) | Bobby's Gin
🌙 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 ($22++) | Nikka From the Barrel

The menu draws heavily from local inspiration, which is great for tourists & appreciated by Singaporeans like myself. Each key location in the menu has a Daytime or Night-time drink.
Generally, the ☀️ Daytime ones are vibrant & lighter on the palate, while the 🌙 Night-time drinks are deeper, robust, & more spirit-forward.
𝑯𝒂𝒋𝒊 𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒆
☀️ 𝐇𝐚𝐣𝐢 𝐏𝐚𝐣𝐢 ($22++) | Tequila Ocho Plata, Herencia Mezcal
🌙 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝 ($22++) | Doorly's XO Barbados Rum
