A divine dessert of soft, creamy ice-cream, layered with decadently rich, thick, glorious caramel and the lightest chantilly cream. Providing textural contrast are crisp flakes, crunchy crumble and oodles of caramel pearls. The sugar rush that descends like a tonne of bricks right after, is worth it.
Start with the beautifully cooked sous vide octopus salad, and tuck into either the pork belly or the duck confit puff for decadent mains. Jean Teo describes Spathe as having '... such a great vibe and ambiance for friends catchup and romantic dinners.'
Little Hiro is so new - it was previously known as Burger Shack - that I can't geotag it. But now you know where to go for a smashing burger that's out of the norm - this one has imported Japanese noodles cooked in a broth of pork, chicken and shio before being shaped with the help of egg yolk. Smooshed between the chewy "buns" are impeccably crispy, breadcrumbed chicken and a generous emollient of homemade egg mayo. It's darn filling, so please share.
3 words: Huge, fresh and yum. First bite into this jumbo prawn, the freshness of the prawn explodes right in your mouth. The batter is exceptionally fragrant, adding that extra oomph to this dish. If you are really hungry, do not hold back and order a set of two. I promise there will be no regrets. I rate it: 10/10
This dish cost just $20.80, which isnt too pricey for the portion. The special thing is the mango salsa sauce. It was refreshing and a little tangy as you ate it together with the fish and crayfish. I rate it 7/10.
Always a sucker for scallops, I had to have this. Recommended to us by the waiter, it didn't take long for the dish to arrive at our table. Looking at it was enough to make our mouths water. First and subsequent bites into these delicious scallops was enough to make me come back to this hard-to-find restaurant located in Toa Payoh and it only cost 11dollars. One single yet big downside, the place is non air conditioned. I rate it 9/10.
Two words: Surprisingly delicious. Happened to chance upon this small little kitchen bar along Telok Ayer street (would have missed it if you didnt walk on their sde of the street), while looking for another place - Oops? This is their pistachio cake topped with yuzu cream. The taste was light and refreshingly with little crunchy mueslies that just add both flavour an texture to the cake. And since yuzu helps with digestion, this is the go-to dessert after a heavy meal. I rate it 8/10.
Was looking around for some desserts and chanced upon this tiny shop beside Starbucks in The Cathay. This berry waffle with macademia ice cream costs $9.90. The waffle and ice cream was a little disappointing. However with great efforts put into cutting small little cute strawberry hearts, it made the waffle tastes just a bit better. I rate it 6/10.
