Duck Rice ($19 for half duck)
⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
This stall had the longest queue on a weekend afternoon, so we joined because well, we too love a good plate of duck rice 😁 Sadly, this was thoroughly average and actually quite forgettable. The duck, whilst expertly sliced and nicely played, was pretty tough and did not absorb the braising sauce. The sauce itself was a little thin and lacked any notable complexity. Had also hoped that they would serve yam rice but it was just plain white rice. Overall, it’s an alright plate, but we don’t quite understand the perpetuallly long queue.

The duck from ah xiao teochew braised duck is very soft and tender, the fragrant of the sauce is great and always makes me super hungry when I see it!👍👍👍👍👍🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🥘🔥🔥🔥🔥

Teochew braised duck rice seems to the 'cleaner' when compared to the hokkien version, which is sweeter and loaded with thick sauce and braised peanuts. They're different so don't compare the 2 directly! The duck at Ah Xiao felt a little tough to me but the chili there is fantastic. A good choice if you're craving for duck rice without the penalty of the afternoon nap struggle.

The meat wasn't so soft that you couldn't pick up and the flavor from the spices were able to infuse into the meat. This set only costed $5. Definitely worth every dollar!
