Crispy deep fried fish fillet, savoury juicy grilled chicken, BBQ beans & mashed potato.
With tartar sauce.
Satisfying indeed.

The Superburger ($15.90) starts with grilled buns, a thick beef patty covered with melted cheese topped with grilled turkey bacon (Andes is halal). Then the chef deep fries sweet white onion into a large patty and add it on, finally finishing with vegetables and tomatoes. This is not for the faint-hearted (or the clogged-hearted, really). If cheat meals were sinful, this belongs to the depths of hell. The saving grace is that it is not served with fries, which really is lame compared to a mammoth like this.

all 4 steaks that we ordered were over cooked and dry. portion size shrank by 30% as compared to the past and to other outlets. very very disappointing. won’t visit again. #burpple #astons #andes

A yummilicious lunch at Viva's Chic-a-boo with non-fatty fresh fried chicken from an offshoot by Aston. I prefer the spicy version, more of a kick than original which is saltier. Thigh meat is tender and white, not a sign of that dark bloody look as you get near to the bones. A must-try! I waited some time for my order though the place was not busy. Perhaps this a sign of freshly fried food and not serving food that has been prepared way ahead of order. None of that soggy oily smell coming from the skin too. Love it!

I wanted to turn the burger around to get a better profile shot, but look at those crossed arms...hangry husband alert! I took just one shot and let him devour his chicken burger. I didn't even get to taste some. Boo. It looks good though. It's got real chicken fillet, not a patty.

We only took one bite of the mash potato because it was tasteless. There's not even a taste of potato, so having the gravy or adding pepper could not solve the problem. The BBQ baked beans was the opposite - tasty and moreish. Even after feeling full from our mains, we nibbled on the baked beans till it was all gone.

You can choose 2 sides when you order a grilled steak/fish/chicken. If you get them à la carte like we did, it's $2.50 each and you get a bigger serving (I think, judging from photos).

The mix of sweet tomato and spicy chilli in the pasta sauce made it quite addictive. I'm usually a slow and mindful eater, but this time I was stuffing my face non-stop. Just something about a big plate of spaghetti that unleashes your inner glutton.

Pasta dishes come with free soup of the day. The mushroom soup is pretty generic, but I was surprised by the garlic bread. It's garlicky and toasted just right.

Recently opened in Viva Business Park @ Chai Chee, Andes is a halal branch of popular western food chain Astons. The food served here is inexpensive, fresh & of consistent quality. Double Up Chicken ($14.50) comes with two sides (potato salad is awesome!). Prices here are nett too :)
