Served when you seat down, vegetarian one upon request. Love the sauce that comes with it, slight spicy, sour & sweet. Some taste of tamarind.
Super comforting & warming drink, especially great on a cold day & after eating oily foods
So creamy, thick & fragrant. Lots of assorted vegetables & tofu. 😋 super nice to go with rice!
Must get clear tom yum everytime! Lots of assorted vegetables like baby corn, pumpkin, assorted mushrooms, tofu. Lemongrass taste is strong.😋
Pineapples are slightly sweet, dried ones are used instead of fresh ones, quite fragrant. Comes with raisins, cashew nuts, 2 slices od cucumber, 1 slice of tomato & shredded cabbages.
Chock full of squid & prawns mixed with mashed otah with an outrageously strong coconut taste. pair these with the free crackers they serve while waiting for your food to arrive. bomb.
Not everytime a restaurant deserves its good online reviews, but A-Roy sure does!
We tasted the genuineness of the chef :-)
We will surely come back everytime craving for quality thai food
Wah, their dishes did not disappoint! 🤤🤤
Feat their Prawns Claypot Vermicelli ($18.90), fried chicken wings w herbs ($14.90) and their Thai prawn cake (2 pcs for $7.80)
Though their prices is slightly on the higher side, their portions certainly made up for it. I love their Thai prawn cake and chicken wings, both so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. 👍🏻👍🏻

A-Roy Thai
@aroythai_sg
Another regular order here for me, I love how the chefs at A-Roy Thai make such a simple dish so flavourful. Though the cabbage might look plain, the level of saltiness is just right, and complements the natural sweetness of the vegetables. The cabbage leaves retain their crunchiness, and I especially love spoonfuls with fried garlic which are super aromatic.
One of my regular orders but this is the first time I’ve had this since A-Roy Thai’s expansion. I did find that the stuffing was more bland than usual, but perhaps that could be due to the strong flavours in the spicy and sour wing bean salad. The batter was as crisp and enjoyable as always though. Would still order this to go along with my meal!
First time back at Aroy Thai since their expansion and also my first time trying this appetiser. The wing bean salad has a sour and slightly spicy flavour profile, but the sauce is rich and luxuriantly thick thanks to the coconut cream. The wing beans reminded me of ladies fingers without the gooey-ness, and there were some cabbage stalks in the mix too. This could easily make a one-dish meal with rice for a solo diner as there’s also minced meat, prawns and squid in the salad for a balanced meal.
The vermicelli were not too oily. Prawns were fleshy and juicy. Must try at a-roy thai.
Price: $18.90 (small)
Yummy tom yum clear soup at aroy thai!
Soup was tasty and the prawns were really fresh and juicy.
Price:$26.90 for Medium size
Will the real Aroy thai please stand up ?
There are simply too many thai restaurants named Aroy Thai and too confusing for me ....
But I do know that this Aroy thai at velocity , Novena Square is really really good .
The last time I had their food was back at the Funan centre days . They have since moved to Novena .
As hidden as they may be on the third floor and with a menu that’s not cheap ( 16 to 18 dollars per fish ), you know that the food is good given the fan fare .
To “try” , I ordered the pineapple rice and the panang chicken ( because i recalled it to be really good from the Funan days) .
The first look at the pineapple rice and I was disappointed because it looked so plain - almost like it was scooped up from a rice cooker of pre cooked rice . But don’t judge a book by its cover - neither judge a rice by its colour 😂- one mouth of the rice and I was really taken aback by the deep and rich flavour . I asked for a green chilli paste type of sauce and it complemented the rice perfectly - with interchangeable notes of spiciness weaving through the slight sweet and tangy flavour of the pineapples within the rice .
The prawns 🍤 served with the rice were perfectly executed and I now know why they were served on the side as opposed to frying them within the rice because they deserve such a huge applause - very skilfully flash fried for just a slight char but still maintaining its juiciness - and you get fresh prawns here - no artificial crystal prawns . Yay🙏! I am actually beginning to appreciate this style of pineapple rice because it’s simple , basic , non greasy but the flavours really shine through.
Next on , the panang chicken in THICK curry gravy ( be sure to order the correct one because there are 2 versions - one with a diluted gravy and one with a thick gravy ) . You MUST need get this when you are here if there’s only one dish you would order. I won’t deny that the portion size is humble but the aromatic homemade curry “ rempah” and the tender chicken thigh meat strips will take your palate senses right up to heaven . You”ll be asking more rice to soak up all that gravy . I honestly haven’t had a panang chicken that is this good - the ones I have tried so far are sickeningly sweet. This one is well balanced in flavours - more savoury than sweet and on the spicier note.
The bill came to 34 dollars for 2 dishes and a bowl of white rice . Not cheap , but definitely worth the quality and execution .
Ordered this before, but the tom yum soup is consistently good! Great for people who like spice.
As a side note, A-Roy Thai is expanding! They’ve taken over the unit next door which used to be a shop selling adventure/cold gear so they can handle more customers especially at peak periods. Yay!
Oooh this was super good! It’s like a fusion between cereal prawn and garlic prawns. The prawns are all de-shelled and deep fried to a crisp golden brown, even the tails are crisp enough to be munched on! The prawns are tossed in deep fried garlic which might have some cereal in it as it tasted a little sweet-savoury. There’s also peppercorns, which, thankfully, aren’t the Szechuan numbing kind. They give little peppery bursts of flavour at the back of your throat, and once in a while, one is more spicy than the others, but they’re all pretty manageable.
I’d definitely add this dish on my rotation for protein!
Just one of the handful of vegetable dishes on the menu without meat. A mix of broccoli, cabbage, kai lan, carrot, and mushroom stir fried in oyster sauce and topped with crispy fried garlic.
Nothing fantastic, just a safe vegetable dish that is hard to go wrong with :)
Better known as Seafood Otah in Coconut (S$18.90), I could not resist ordering this dish for the richness in coconut flavours. However, unlike what we were more familiar with, the Otah here would be more watery, but still spiced up and fabulous nonetheless.
Within the bowl of molten goodness, you would have two prawns, some squid and two slices of fish swimming. While some might not be too certain if this was worth the money, I would say that occasional indulgence was nothing to be ashamed of. After all, the food was good, as depicted from the steady stream of customers on a midweek dinner service.
