Flavourful bee hoon (that wasn't greasy at all) with generous ingredients, what more can I ask for?

This was sooooo good (and wayyy much cheaper than Putien's version)! Got a small bowl to share with the parents, and it was perfect for the 3 of us (along with a small plate of Heng Hua bee hoon).

As you drive into the car park you will alr think that you're in our neighboring country. When you see this "restaurant" at the end of the shop houses, that will seal your thoughts even more. A little rustic looking place, with tentage set up over the outdoor eating area and old school table cloth (as evident in the photo). We ordered a Heng Hua bee hoon, kai lan w beancurd skin, fried yam and lychee pork. The bee hoon isn't as flavorful as the popular heng hua restaurant, Pu Tien. But at $5 a portion, it's not too bad.(though you can find the clam shells but not the clams) The kai lan with bean curd skin was pretty good, stir fried with lots of garlic. The yam had a nice crunchy batter and coated with a sweet and slightly spicy sauce. I would say this is a pretty good place to visit for a rustic, different kind of experience kind of dining at cheap prices.

Unlike the cubed pieces that is usually served, the ones here come elongated and in chunks, and in generous amounts. The sweetness here seemed a tad different, as though it's a combination of Thai-style chili and Honey and the yam sticks seemed sweetened beneath the batter too. It's crispy, and every stick makes you want to reach out for another. And when nothing is left, you might even go down to the onions and leftover sauce. It's that good!

One of the most iconic "Hing Hua" dishes apart from Lor Mee and Mee Sua which are also available here. Isn't really the best around but still a very good attempt because you could still taste how the broth was being absorbed in the beehoon; a wee bit savoury. There is a generous amount of pork slices, and the crispy seaweed adds a very interesting flavour to the beehoon.

These were really crispy, and rather meaty but well spiced with 5 spices. Quite addictive with every pop especially when dipped with the accompanying soya sauce which was heavy and sweet at the same time.
