More Reviews of good food at Coley Cocktail Bar

Coley's is an incredibly cosy affair, with a brilliant selection of cocktails worth exploring.

Their cocktails range from the standard classics to alcoholic twists on local delights (I saw a Sirap Bandung drink) to incredibly curious yet brilliant concoctions such as Whiskey Bubble Tea and their PB&J cocktail.

This place is small and is normally quite packed, so it's best to go in smaller groups of 2-4.

Prices are reasonable for the quality of the cocktails, but definitely on the steeper side - I'd really recommend this place for a fun night out of cocktail exploration and the overall cosy ambience.

This is a mix of the most unexpected things.

It has rice paper, crispy fish skin, fish maw, nori, red cabbage and anchovies with sambal mayo dip. The anchovies are dipped in some sweet slightly sourish dip. Goes surprisingly well with the dip. I love the dip! Overall a light snack that is a change from the norm.

This is RM25.

If youโ€™re looking for a fruity, refreshing drink, this is one of it.

This drink is a mix of Angostura Blanco Reserva, amaro, guava, lime and asamboi. I like it but relatively light to me.

This is RM25.

A nice change from the usual gin & tonic. Personally, I tasted the coconut more than the gin. Big glass for the price.

This is RM25.

Although fried chicken wings seems to be an ordinary essential in every bars and pubs, the ones over here definitely distinctive from others from taste wise and large portion. They were brined in Chinese cooking wine prior to deep frying which leaves your palate that bitter linger taste of alcohol and sprinkles of Tzechuaj pepper gives you that kick. They are serve with a pineapple hot sauce. Definitely great munch to go with alcohol if youโ€™re feeling peckish. RM25 per serving.

This plate of sinful bar bite consists of dehydrated red cabbage, crispy nori and fish skins, fish maw and tamarind dusted with curry powder is terribly addictive. Served with a sambal mayo dip that makes it irresistible to decline. RM25 per plate.

Whiskey based cocktail with Jameson, honey, salted plum, lime and ginger ale. I find it refreshing due to the lime and plum but it was slightly salty and alcohol content is low. RM25 per glass.

This mug of fresh coconut water infused with lime zest and Beefeater London dry gin cocktail is a thirst quencher. The local infused flavours is an easy drink for amateur cocktail drinker and pair well with deem heaty bar food. RM25 per mug.

This Pre-prohibition classic cocktail made with raspberry syrup, lemon juice, gin and shaken with egg white is definitely a ladies favourite. Creamy foam with a sweet and sour after taste. RM40 per glass.

The charming setup at Bangsar's Dr.Inc cafรฉ is succeeded by Coley in the night, an experimental cocktail bar that takes inspiration (for both its name and drinks) from famed mixologist Ada Coleman. Let the dreamy drinks and relaxed vibes here put you and your date in the right mood. With the opening promo that lasts all May, refreshing happy hour cocktails like the Gin & Coconut (RM36) and Whisky Barley (RM36) go for only RM20 each. Other signature cocktails include the Hanky Panky (RM46) โ€” gin, red vermouth and Fernet Branca, and a dangerously delicious Blood Blossom (RM40) with earl grey infused gin, blood orange jam and burlesque bitters.
Avg Price: RM40

It started out very well indeed - a first visit to @simplicity_sandwiches, Pixar back to its imperious heights with Coco, a great-as-always dinner at @sitkarestaurant, and a return visit to @coleylumpur after a couple of months. Very impressed by the cinnamon whisky & soy milk (& cincau!), which was followed up by this fascinating Ocho tequila flight (RM70). Personal thoughts on each as follows:
.
.
Blanco - pepper and spice nose. Bit like spiced rum, reminiscent of the time I dawdled at the Sailor Jerry booth at Laneway and backed out on getting a free tattoo. Initial jamminess at first sip that dissolves into a spicy aftertaste. Nice body. .
.
Curado - less of an aroma to it. But very syrupy with a much more subdued sweetness. Lovely spicy notes. Sweet aftertaste that slowly mellows out into a smouldering hint of a fire. .
.
Reposado - even milder nose. Very lovely fieriness from the very first note without burning. Coats the throat with heat though. Deep and rich. Almost like molten fire. .
.
Anejo - slightly peppery nose. Sticky sweet with much less of a burn than reposado. A nice tingly spiciness by this point. Definitely sweeter than the reposado though. Bit of a medicinal aftertaste though which I could do without. .
.
All in all, that's some fine sipping tequila right there. Go and check it out yourself. .
