Masterchef Singapore runner-up Gen Lee has created this dish that would only be served on 2 Aug and 3 Aug, as part "Home Truly" menu. Besides Chef Gen Lee, there'll also be dishes created by @dingdongsg Head Chef @millermai_, and two other Masterchef Singapore's finalists - @aaronwong.sg, and @zanderng.

I love this dish for how Chef Gen Lee has rendered the duck fats here, the charred layer on the skin meant that the skin was seared till fragrant, but still retaining its juices. What's also amazing here was the taro croquette which was crumbly soft and stuffed with duck confit, shiitake and leeks. These two star of the dish was served with cauliflower puree, plum spiced jus, and a bouquet of pickles consisting of beetroot, kumquat compote, and mustard seeds.

The half duck leg confit was flavourful and crispy as stated but I didn't think it went well with the fruity yet spicy thick curry. The cauliflower couscous also didn't add much to the dish. Also it's a rather petite portion for lunch and needless to say, the crispiness quickly disappears when soaked in curry.

We love this dish. Crispy duck skin with moist duck meat that soaks up the mildly spiced but thick and rich curry, further punctuated by strong passionfruit tang.

And see the white bits there? Those are cauliflower, lending a more interested texture to the otherwise creamy smooth curry.

This was included with a bowl of steam Japanese rice. This was a unique experience compared to the usual deep fried pork or chicken. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The curry was unusually thick, with added cauliflower bits. Very generous with their duck, and it breaks apart whenever you cut into the duck. Yum! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Essentially moist and crispy duck leg โ€“ so much duck juices upon bite in yer mouth โ€“ soaking itself in a sweet mild curry with a most zippy passionfruit tang. Comes with rice, but the shaved cauliflower serves equally well as curry sponge. 4/5

It's hard to explain why this combination works so well, but one taste and you'll understand this genius. I can't wait to come back to share this with my friends, this meal at ding dong was all kinds of wonderful. Super impressed by the strong south East Asian flavors throughout the meal, but reimagined with technical precision. Imagine a crisp leg of duck confit sitting in a mild curry, punctuated by fresh passion fruit, and gently balanced out by grated raw cauliflower that lends a surprisingly creamy note. Just. Wow. Also blown away by their Wagyu beef char siew (!!) and their fantastic cocktails. Prices aren't ridiculous considering the quality of food. Come for a fun date night, or an intimate meal with your best friends. Best for a Friday night after work, remember to start and end with cocktails! P.s. Really loved the Ca Phe cocktail, it tasted like the most heady breakfast coffee ๐Ÿ˜„
