Bijin Nabe

4.25⭐ Brought WB to eat Bijin Nabe since he loves hotpot. I make reservation at 6pm as they only accept walk in after 6pm The collagen soup is so good, I find it even better than Beauty In the Pot. The collagen soup is a result of stewing chicken for 8 hours. As this is our first time eating, the waitress explain to us the way of eating Bijin Nabe. The collagen pudding is heated and after melting, the waitress pour some soup into tea cup for us to sip. Then she remove pieces of chicken parts from the soup for our consumption before adding all the ingredients into the soup. We ordered the set portion and did not add on as we feel full at the end of the meal.

This broth is brimming with the goodness of collagen. It’s creamy and best eaten hot, otherwise the top layer will start coagulating. I ordered the chicken noodle set which also comes with veg and a glorious onsen egg. Spy tip: Chili padi is also served at a nominal add on charge.

Nice collagen soup, but paying $25++ for 1 person and for vegetables with a little portion of chicken tsukune is kinda pricy. Photo shown are for 3 pax portion. 😰

Prices stated before GST & SC.

So, these puddings of natural collagen are suppose to make me healthier & prettier πŸ™ŽπŸ»Got meh πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Well, at least the organic veg like lettuce, baby sweet potato leaves, enoki mushrooms, baby corn, black fungus, deep fried tofu, sunflower sprout, watermelon radish and meat like tori tsukune, prawn and thick mochi-mochi noodle made the Hotpot tasty πŸ˜‹The first taste of the soup in a tiny cup was rich, refreshing & soothing. However, I wouldn't say it was incredibly umami 😏Maybe my expectation was too high πŸ˜‚
πŸ’†πŸ»
We also tried the Best Seller: Chicken Nanban ($8.50) A traditional dish in Miyazaki served with homemade tar tar sauce. Hmmm again this dish didn't wow me as the overflowing tar tar sauce made the supposedly crispy chicken soggy
πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
Thanks to our dinner kaki who is a regular (no wonder his skin glowing from all the collagen intake) we were treated with complimentary Maximum Fried Potato ($5.50) & Edamame ($5) served in a simple cute way πŸ˜€
πŸ’†πŸ»
And so, my verdict? Nothing super fantastic and I'll give it a miss if there's a long queue

There's the normal Nanban Chicken here, but this spicy version is apparently only exclusive to Singapore and that's one more reason to order it for. While the fried batter of the fried chicken was pretty uninspiring being a tad limp and even sparse in certain parts, the tender and succulent chicken was saved by the unforgiving spicy Nanban sauce β€” the same egg mayo you would expect but with a Sambal-like chicken mixed into it that's surprisingly not shy of heat at all. Immensely shiok, and a good side to order if you are one who is dying to have something spicy alongside your Bijin Nabe to tingle your tastebuds with.

Really late into this "Beauty Pot" thing for I just had my first taste of it last night. $25++ per pax but you get a wide array of condiments that goes into it β€” Enoki Mushrooms, Red Pickles, Minced Pork, Prawn, Sweet Potato leaves etc.; so much you are bound to leave full but satisfied without being uncomfortably so. The soup is immensely smooth and full of collagen; the servers would scoop the soup into a small bowl so you can try it in its most pure form before adding the other condiments in that adds more flavour to the soup, but I find the soup best had as it congregates over time especially when it all becomes thick and slightly gooey. Apart from the food, the service was also impeccable from the fun concept for their loyalty cards and the post-dessert treat to how polite they were and down to them explaining the various condiments and instructions patiently β€” felt that the staff was pretty organized despite being full-house. Definitely a spot I would look forward to visiting again. (PS: each table has a maximum eating time limited to either 1hr or 1hr 30mins depending on what you order for there is always a queue outside. The best time to queue would be around 6:30pm if you are in to sit around longer for the waiting time would be about slightly more than an hour, and there shouldn't be a queue by the time you start eating as the kitchen closes at 9pm.)
