Their breads are fluffy, chewy and fragrant. If I had to pick my favourite, it would be the brown sugar bun. Super good! You have to try it 🤩

[Gokoku Japanese Bakery]
Koucha Scone ($2.10)
Basically Earl Grey scone, that was pretty strong in the ear grey flavour, and was quite enjoyable.

Shio Vanilla Karumi Scone ($2.10)
This slightly paled in comparison when compared with the earl grey one, with it not being as fragrant, but still okay.

Sadly the scones were quite dry (?) as they would stick to your gums and teeth as you chew on them.

Cheesecake Croissant ($2.20)
Having it on the second day, the texture probably would have changed. Did not remind me of croissant at all, although it did have some sort of cheesecake flavoured filling in it.

Meidi-ya supermarket shifted to @milleniawalk now they have a food hall and bakery @gokoku.jp from Kobe! Got their koucha scone (earl grey scone), melon pan and signature malt Kurumi pan🌈✨ all three are of three different textures🙌 found my next favorite Japanese bakery aside from Donq and at a cheaper price hehe🌼😍 highly recommend all of them! The scone is packed with tea aroma, the melon pan is sugar crunchy top and fluffy on the inside, the malt kurumi pan is so so soft and so so healthy heheh☺️✨ Japanese bread ftw👅

Gokoku (nestled within Meidi-ya Japanese supermarket) was such a rare gem. Assorted breads were worth the extra $$$ (since they’re priced slightly more expensive than your usual neighbourhood bakery). Plus you could get a coffee at their in-house cafe to go with your baked goods, and have it in the supermarket itself (or, the outdoor patio if you wish)! Will definitely come back for more.
