Gyoza King by Ramen Keisuke, is located just two doors down from the perennially packed ‘Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King’. The Juicy pan-fried Gyozas are really another culinary avenue to showcase the superb stock (the Gyozas are filled with Ramen broth) created by Keisuke Takeda, a top Ramen Chef in Japan.

Super delish, value for money and one of the several Keisuke outlets in Tanjong Pagar (all with a different speciality).
Set included five gyozas (choice of pork/chicken/prawn), two sides, rice and soup. The dumplings were the right amount of chewy with really juicy tender meat. Complementary bean sprouts and furikake seasoning made the dining experience feel very homey, especially in a cosy 13-seater diner. On the flip side, this tiny space made for very long waiting time; could be as quick as immediate during off-peak hours or 1h+ on weekends.

Tried the pork gyozas and prawn gyozas. To be honest, the gyozas weren’t very mind-blowing. The gyozas can be crispier. The side dishes stole the show! Each set comes with 2 sides, and we tried the stir fried ginger pork (I really enjoyed this!) stir fried eggs with chives (normal), chicken nanban with tartar sauce (yummy but oily) and deep fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce (yummy!). Each set also comes with rice (you can select your portion) and soup (miso or vegetable). This is worth a try. Be ready to queue though!

Surprisingly there wasn’t any queue when we arrived on Sunday evening, and manage to go in soon after.

I gotten the prawn meat with a few different dishes to try on with friend.


Waited 45mins during lunch hours... cos few seats inside only... and worst with the distancing now... Don't know is wait until hungry then food become yummy or what... But portion is just nice, with less rice too. Cos the fried stuffs already have thick flour... so you'll end up very full... free bean sprouts as usual. Specialty seems to be the raw egg with the rice but I don't dare to try... They only give upon request.

5 dumplings, 2 side dishes, miso soup and a refillable bowl of bean sprouts for $13.90? Not bad at all. The pork dumplings were ok, and ironically not the star of the show. The 2 side dishes I chose: ginger pork and chicken nanban were surprisingly better! Fried prawn was full of batter and eggs were nothing special. I’d come back to try their prawn gyozas!

It’s an incredibly value for money lunch set, with choice of 5 gyozas (chicken, pork, prawn), 2 sides (choice of 8), 1 soup (choice of 2) and top grade Japanese rice (choice of S, Reg, L - same price!)

Prawn gyozas: decided on 🦐 because I thought it’s a pretty special flavour on the menu. It’s not commonly found elsewhere! Verdict: Succulent fresh prawns were wrapped within the gyoza skin. But it wasn’t mind-blowing. Perhaps it would have been a better choice to stick with their signature pork? Not that I’ve tried it before tho!

Eggs w chives: kinda like creamy scrambled smooth eggs with chives! 😋

Fried tofu in dashi sauce: just normal fried tofu with soy/dashi. ‘Made better with the bonito flakes!

Vegetable soup: VERY rich broth of veggie mix. A nice change to the typical miso!

Rice: TOP grade shiny Japanese rice (can’t rmb the prefecture where these lil’ pearl beads were grown and harvested) that were really chewy. Ask for the chilli, sesame flake mix. They add a whole new layer of flavour to the carbs!
