Glutinous rice ckn basically, wrapped in lotus leaf

Except it's so different from normal. The rice wasn't v thick and chewy, it's almost fluffy and paired w a savoury meat sauce which again, is well balanced here. No component overwhelms another and this is very easy to eat, unlike others which you might find super jelak after a few mouthfuls of oily dense rice. Must try, not because of how mind-blowing it is but simply because how the execution allows the dish to be not overwhelming, a rare feat

The bits of char siew actually function well here because they're just a tad tough on their own. The sauce was balanced, and the thick rice roll doesn't absorb too much sauce. Not everyone likes but I felt that being able to taste the filling, the soft rolls, and the sauce at the same time is something I really enjoy about this version(some may find it a bit dry)

All these funny small sets are for tea only

Their egg tarts are really good. They're flaky yet v soft and almost melt in your mouth due to the butter, leaving behind the fragrant egg curd. Worth the calories!

They were pretty good. It's the soft kind, as silly as that might sound, and the lava was a thin layer. I felt that the balance was good as for once you can actually taste the skin instead of just lava.

No drink, and it's as dry as it looks. The flavour is slightly better than it looks, but not worth trying still

Their congee is very very solid, it's thick yet there's still soft grains. Quite savoury too, worth a try if youre looking for comfort food
