Maybe it’s just them doing their own version of the Dirty Bun; the Dirty Croissant here lacks the dirtiness and the flavour oomph however. Not sure if they deliberately left out the the fillings here, but the croissant is pretty much like any other croissants without cream/chocolate fillings within; just topped off with cocoa powder and a slight drizzle of chocolate sauce topped with hazelnuts. The croissant is buttery, yet with a bittersweet chocolate flavour without being overly sweet. Sure, perhaps the lack of fillings is the reason why they name in the Dirty Croissant instead of Dirty Bread, but it does make it feel like it’s missing of something.
Beautiful Scandinavian-inspired decor aside, this hidden gem in Mount Faber also serves up comfort fare worth the trip down. Though it opened quietly over in Jurong Kechil early this year, this serene, homey spot of a cafe has already won over several Burpplers. The coffee's good, with interesting blends by in-house Quarter Life Roasters (previously at The Moon). On food, expect hearty mains like a Chicken Parmigiana ($15) as well as build-your-own brunch items. Bring a book for company.

Fans of Alchemist Coffee, mark your calendars to visit the new flagship space at Khong Guan building. This minimalist and nostalgic industrial space is set to be a hot hangout around the island. Service is great, and the bean blends differ from those at their other outlets. Both the Brazilian and Ethiopian are delicious, tending towards the slightly acidic and strong side. Burppler Xing Wei recommends pairing the Flat White ($5) with the crisp and flaky Butter Cinnamon Danish for an ultimate afternoon treat.

Stamping Ground Coffee is a takeaway coffee joint offering CBD folks in Telok Ayer a good caffeine fix. Aside from their Cold Brew Coffee which comes in Black ($6) and White ($7), you can also opt for one of their non-caffeinated drinks such as their Chia Seed Pomegranate ($6) or Almond Nut Milk ($8). Go for the White if that’s available, but if they are out, try the Almond Nut Milk with an added shot of espresso – some may say it's even better.
