Cafe Flatlay
Amazed by the large selection of interesting tea selection available @dutchcolony, pictured here (served in a conical flask) is the Aromatherapy in a cup ($6) with strong notes of lavender and mint. The Signature Flight Coffee ($8.50) caught my interest which consist of a velvety Cappuccino and a Espresso shot. I had never had a pure espresso shot before and was very taken aback with the sourness of it!
However, I was quite dismay with the fact that their kitchen closes at 3pm daily (and they close at 8/10pm, no food till closing?!?!). There were plenty of bakes available like their Thai Milk Tea Loaf ($5) - subtle yet distinct flavours but wasn't fluffy enough for me :(
Affordable no frills cafe grub located underneath a HDB block in AMK - Beef Bolognese ($13) & Latte ($4.50). Don't come expecting really fantastic food but it's just good enough to chill and read.
Thinking of starting a project - [After First Bite] where food photos are photographed after that first mouth. Your non foodie friends can now have a bite before endlessly waiting for our photo shoot to end ๐น

Keep calm, drink tea and eat Swiss rolls ๐๐๐
Interesting blend of Ethiopia, Sumatra and Brazil - Nutty with a dark chocolaty tone.
Being the first weekend since their official opening, I guess I would expect several teething issues. But there is to be many major improvements to be made sadly. I would agree that the coffee is definitely good (nutty blend that I really like) especially the Pepper Agave - the slightly pepperish-ness and sweetness really surprisingly to envelop itself with the coffee flavours! However, my order of flat white took almost forty minutes to an hour to arrive (and after like asking for it about 3 times ๐) The Churros was really good, crisp exterior and super moist on the inside! Paired with ice cream and dark chocolate sauce ๐๐ผ The Scrambled Eggs and Crayfish in question was (literally) a question mark. Flavourless crayfish and rather stiff sourdough bread. The caviar added a strange fishy taste to the whole dish but I guess it's a personal taste thing.
Need my daily Dose! of caffeine right now! ๐ด
On the table: Kins House Salad ($9), Tataki Tuna ($13), Forest Mushroom Soup ($9) & Wintermelon Chicken Bouillon ($8). Noteworthy would be the Tataki Tuna made with sashimi grade tuna that is pan seared to medium then topped with mesclun greens, homemade pickles and honey mustard sauce. The other picks would be the soups that were very comforting to the bellies ๐
Serving Sandwiches, Salad, Sides and a small ranges of beverages that is really good for an afternoon chit chat session with friends in an old school setting. Souv Vide Egg ($5) that is heavily infused with heavenly truffle with a strip of jamon, topped on 2 pieces of Hashbrowns ($3) and have one of their Signature Coffee (Coconut, Espresso, Milk - $6). Psst..... They have a really cute ๐ถ called Baileys.
The Lokal Baked Eggs ($20) that comforting with pork sausage, baked beans topped with baked eggs. Interestingly once you dig deeper, you will realised all the spicy personality beneath. Not forgetting my usual order of their stellar Toasted Banana Bread ($14).
Had a BAO-derfull morning with the opening of Bao Makers replacing Windowsill Pies on Horne Road.
The Gyuniku bowl ($8) needs no introduction as its tender soft beef and savoury sauce had already won many hearts through their lunch menu. The cauliflower fritters ($10) balanced the meal well for me as a broccoli/cauliflower avid lover which I love the wasabi mayo accompanying it but for the batter wise, paddyhills rendition won my heart ๐
