Thick crunchy udon served in a light soy soup base with pork belly. Light, healthy and Oiishi! Regular bowl at $9.80
Simple yet divine, Sanuki-style thick crunchy udon served in soya sauce. Served Hot or Cold at $5.80 for a plain bowl. Condiments of salty plum, seaweed, fresh chopped spring onions are complimentary and self-service. I prefer my noodles soup to be hot, yet those around me insisted that the cold version is crunchier and tastier. Am sticking to hot. What's your take?
A beef and vegetable hot pot served in flavoured broth. Generous amount of cabbages and beef. The broth however lacks oomph, perhaps a tad diluted. This hot pot serves one and is reasonably priced at S$16.90. Oh yes, another mystery was that it's not served with rice, unlike other Japanese establishment. Additional charge for a bowl of rice.
Yes, it's not a "ball" per se but the minced chicken paste was stuck to the wooden spoon and grilled with Teriyaki sauce to perfection. Great presentation and taste for S$4.90 and the portion is rather generous. Break off bits of the meat paste and dip it into the poach egg before transferring to you mouth! Personally, I feel that the marinate could do with a pinch of salt.
An appetizer - A bed of semi-raw, lightly grilled scallops garnished with julienned leek and shallots. The faint seasoning retains the sweetness of the scallops. I added a dash of shoyu to my taste. Reasonably priced at S$15.90 for this portion.
A special creation by Chef Gary. Fresh and tasty!
Known as collagen soup base Japanese noodles. It's broth, supposedly made from bone marrows of poultry, was flavourful and rich. This set with tasty grilled soyu chicken, cost S$16.50++ a bowl. There's a choice for noodles. I personally enjoy the springy konnyaku noodles. The egg noodles would taste too common like the regular thin egg noodles in fishball soup. As well unlike other Japanese noodles that are served lukewarm, this bowl is served piping hot and remain so for sometime while you enjoy your noodles. Great for wet weather days!
This is from Menya Ryu. There are different flavours. This Chef's Special is fragrant, and miso-flavourful. The corn gives the broth a nice crunch. Must Try.
This is from BUTA GOD. The best Ramen I'd had in Singapore! It was cooked to perfection in my personal opinion. Hmmm...perhaps a tad too much pork :?. The roast pork (char siew) was moist and tender. The noodle had that konnyaku-like crunch. The bowl of noodles were decked with thinly-sliced pork belly, usually used for shabu shabu. I love bamboo shoots and those braised bamboo shoots used tasted like the Japanese kanpyo - (preserved radish). It was a large wow bowl of ramen, so be prepared and wear something loose! Priced at S$18. Enjoy.
Very fresh tuna, chopped and chilled, served on a bowl of hot steamed rice. It's delicious. At $18 per bowl, including miso soup and dessert, it's a good lunch option.
Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! Great lunch option at $18.
