A well-made Japchae should have a balanced sweet and savoury flavour with slices of meat, crunchy vegetables and a chewy sweet potato noodle texture. The ones here were not too bad, and the texture of the noodles was on point except the sauce is a little too sweet to my liking γ$6.50
Juicy mandu with a healthy amount of pork and vegetables inside with a not-too-thick and nice crispy bite on the skin γ$4
The entrance of Wonderful Bap Sang is located within Lee Mart. You know itβs pretty authentic when meals here are served with free-flow banchan like braised soybeans, kimchi, seaweed, seasoned soybean sprouts, baked beans and potato salad.
The kimchi tofu stew is served with steamed rice, accompanied by ingredients such as clams, ham, pork, sausage, tofu, kimchi and egg yolk. The stew has a good consistency and a nice balance of sour and spicy flavours from the kimchi that makes it comforting and hearty for the cold weather.
We also got the pork japchae which consists of stir-fried glass noodles loaded with vegetables such as onions, french beans, carrots and pork slices tossed in light soy sauce seasoning. The noodles have a nice and chewy bite but I find the seasoning leans a little too much on the sweet side.

This is for potato lovers. Hot dog wrapped with chewy fish cake and generously coated with deep-fried diced potato cubes. It's like hashbrown, fishcake and sausage all rolled into one and you get a combination of sweet-salty flavours γ$3.50
The signature food of Korea. Sweet and savoury threadfin bream fish cake folded into squares, accompanied with comforting light soy sauce and dashi seaweed stock. The fish cake was chewy and goes well with the earth-sweet stock. Perfect to have on a cold day γ$2.30
Meaty goodness packed with freshness and flavours. The portions are hearty and more than sufficient to feed 2 to 3 pax along with other dishes. Their staff is very attentive and helpful in ensuring that nothing gets overcooked over the sizzling hot griddle. All we have to do was to eat at ease while they helped with the BBQ meat.
Boneless Beef Short Rib + Pork Belly + Marinated Pork Collar γ$50
Price is a bit on the high side and it is best to come with a bigger group to share and split the amount. They were full house during my visit and it is recommended to make a reservation before heading over.
The recent rainy weather makes me crave Korean stew so much. Sundubu jjigae is made with soft tofu as a highlight ingredient submerged in a deep-red spicy stew with ingredients such as seafood, meat, mushrooms, onions, and vegetables.
My soft beancurd soup arrived sizzling hot chock full of ingredients and mildly spicy with seafood sweetness. The texture is on the light side but still comforting, nutritious-tasting and slurp-worthy γ$15
A typical Korean restaurant usually serves up to 6 or 8 side dishes but here at Kim's Family Food, they are very generous to serve 12 side dishes to each table. We had a variety of staple banchan such as apple salad, vegetables, kimchi, beansprouts, fish cake, pickled cucumber, egg, anchovies and mushrooms. The banchan was served almost immediately in generous portions and it's refillable.
The Soon tofu soup is made with a 10-ingredient secret soup recipe and their silken Soon tofu is made with premium Korean soybean from the pristine Paju in South Korea. A Koreanβs definition of a complete meal consists of rice, soup and banchan where each meal here is served complete with a side of kimchi and seaweed.
Both the pork and seafood soon tofu set comes with hearty and flavourful broth along with silky soft tofu, onions and egg. The seafood set has seafood sweetness coming from the clams, squid, mussels and prawns but I preferred the broth from the pork set with slices of lean meat adding more robust flavours to the soup. The portion may look small but it turned out surprisingly filling.

Although the soy sauce flavour is not as strong as honey butter, I preferred this over honey butter for its savoury > sweet taste. The soy sauce chicken comes with a sweet and salty flavour that complements well with the crispy fried chicken.

Moist and flavorful chicken that is extremely crispy on the outside, succulent and juicy on the inside. The fried chicken at Waker is freshly prepared and served piping hot without being too oily.
They serve a total of 4 different flavours (original crispy, sweet-spicy, soy sauce and honey butter). According to the staff, their all-time crowd favourite is their honey butter flavour which was basically the original crispy chicken sprinkled with honey butter powder that smells quite similar to milk powder.
The honey butter flavour leans more on the sweet side with hints of milky flavour. It was pretty addictive and goes well with the crispy skin but I find it a little too sweet for my liking after 2 pcs of it and thankfully we ordered the soy sauce flavour that helps to balance the flavours.

Barbecued pork belly on a sizzling platter with lettuce. The meat is well-balanced and juicy. Have fun wrapping the pork belly with fresh lettuce then dress it with some savoury, sweet and spicy gochujang sauce γ$15

I'm in a relationship with food. Why can't we just declare our never ending love and vows towards some food item? I'm sure that would not result in divorces.
