Don't look down on the Fettuccine Ai Funghi ($22.00++) for being a vegetarian dish. This was delightful. A great mix of juicy sliced mushrooms & confit tomatoes, with creaminess from the ricotta cheese & some acidity from balsamic vinegar that cuts through the heaviness of this dish. What a winner.

Eventually ordered the Ragout Tagliatelle ($25.00++) & Fettuccine Ai Funghi ($22.00++) to share with my friend. I originally thought these wouldn't fill me up when they were served, but I was wrong.

Being a beef lover, I thought I'd enjoy the ragout (pictured) more, as it is generally a hearty solid dish right up my alley. I generally prefer shredded meat ragout over minced meat ones, & this was minced meat town. I did enjoy my half of this while it lasted, but on a comparative basis, it was definitely heavier on the palate which I can't guarantee everyone would appreciate.

I came here for the whiskey, but was impressed by the food as well. Yet another dish that I saw @larvitar write about on Burpple (his photo looks much better than mine).

I swear, the Spicy Prawn & Scallop Aglio Olio ($22++) tastes much better than it looks in my photo. Can't decide if the prawn was juicier, or the scallops. Both were pretty dang amazing with the al dente spaghetti. This dish had the right amount of spice/heat in it, & I'd definitely order this again πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

The Risotto ($36++) won my heart too, but I doubt I could finish this on my own. Remember, folks, sharing is caring.

Firstly, this is a pretty rich dish. Just look at all that Acquerello rice in the cured egg yolk sauce. Even with the squeeze of Amalfi lemon that cuts through the richness nicely, it still is heavy on the palate.

Secondly, & this is just my own personal thing, I can't eat raw fish. I did sneak some small bites of the blue fin tuna, which was pretty heavenly in terms of contrasting taste & texture to the risotto. Nicely executed.

Definitely one for sharing, & I hope that whoever I next come here with will want to share this with me 😁

I had high expectations for the Linguine ($42++) with Hokkaido Sea Urchin, but it was at best okay to me. I felt that the sea urchin should have been fresher, & I wished it were creamier.

The Sardinian Bottarta (fish roe), however, added a nice briney flavour to this dish. But overall, unfortunately, this isn't my favourite dish.

I'm on the fence about the Tagliatelle ($48++), not really sure how I feel about it. The flavours were more subtle that I expected - black garlic? Parma ham essence? I thought these would be brought out more.

However, the pan-seared Abalone was good; bouncy but not rubbery, with that welcomed umami-sweetness in every bite.

The Ravioli ($32++) took me by surprise; hand-crafted pillows of wonder, stuffed with slow-braised beef chuck. They did good in the beef department - it was tender, flavourful & each ravioli had a sizeable portion stuffed into it.

The seasonal black truffle shavings on top were generous & decadent. & I found that the flavours of this impressive dish nicely tied together with the creamy aged parmigiano fondue.

Definitely a winner in my books & I would 100% order this again!

The Pork Cheek ($23++) was also good, with the meat being fork tender & not seasoned too crazily. The tomato-based sauce has a touch of red wine, good flavours in all. The pappardelle was al dente as well. I actually think these 2 pastas go pretty well together in that they are delicious but different.

Service was good & attentive here. If you're redeeming a Burpple Beyond deal here, be sure to swipe at the correct Rookery location as there is another one quite nearby at Hong Leong Building! The waitress that billed me pointed out that I was at the wrong page.. Very thankful for that πŸ˜‚

First time at Rookery for me - caught up with a friend I don't see often & this was a perfect location to do so. It wasn't too noisy, & we sat next to the glass wall so we had some kind of privacy (in the audibility, not visibility, sense)

Ordered 2 pastas from the pasta menu (available 11:30AM onwards) to share. Both are Chef's Recommendations, & I did like them both.

However, I do have a favourite - the Crab Meat ($24++). Al dente tagliatelle & generous shreds of blue swimmer crab tossed with garlic in a delicious, well-balanced tomato cream sauce.

I know we shared this, but I can imagine finishing a whole portion myself & not feel sick/jelak at the end.

The Prawn Aglio Olio ($15.90+) is one of 3 pastas on their menu - the other 2 being Truffle Carbonara ($16.90+) & Beef Bolognese ($14.90+). This was a simple dish that was garlicky enough, & of a mildly spicy level. I think that's great for people who don't like to burn their tongues off or are sensitive to spicy food.

I do feel that they could've used less oil; it became especially obvious at the end of my meal when I could see how much excess oil had pooled at the bottom of the bowl. Prawns were bouncy fresh though, so I'll give them credit for that.

The worst dish of the night was the Forest Mushroom & Zucchini Pasta ($18++) that we were initially served. It was so incredulously salty in a way that all 3 of us unanimously agreed we couldn't eat past the 1st bite. I even wanted to spit my food back out onto my plate (but thought that'd be impolite).

I rarely send my food back to the kitchen, but this was a necessity because they were seriously too heavy handed with their seasoning. Gave them feedback & they were very open to it, & apologised; the dish that returned had pasta that was actually a different colour maybe because they omitted the seasoning. & tasted fine without all that salt. But probably wouldn't order that again.

It took a while for our food to arrive, but it being a busy night & I had good company it didn't matter that much to me. Other than that, the service staff were fairly attentive & friendly - thumbs up for that.

The overall experience here was honestly confusing. 1 good dish & the remaining 3 being inconsistent in that the tastes ranged from very bland to very salty. What gives?

The only good dish out of the 4 we ordered: Porcini Risotto ($18++). Smooth, creamy & delicious. Would definitely come back here just for this.
