Aroi Mak Mak
Probably the largest Thai eatery housed in Golden Mile Complex, Diandin Leluk has gained quite a following over the years. Start with the Fried Catfish Salad or maybe the Thai Chicken Feet Salad; both are really good. The Basil Minced Pork here is excellent. Get the Hotplate Omelette with Oyster alongside - it's brimming with umami, juicy and plump oysters, and obviously lots of egg. They also operate a stall opposite the restaurant that sells Thai street snacks, like skewers of grilled meats, and desserts.
Surprisingly we loved this the most among all the dishes we had. Baked prawns with glass noodles in claypot. The noodles soaked up all the prawny goodness and was so flavorful we couldn't stop slurping noodles even when we were having food coma 😅
It's my middle name, Clara 'Otah' Bean.
This thai otah dish ($12) has chunks of mackerel in it, and topped with a dollop of coconut milk. Who is the genius who invented this yummy and addictive dish?!
Known for its cheap and good Thai food (as they boast on their signboard), Jai Thai has become a favourite for many. Indecisive ones will be glad that they have a mixed platter of appetisers, comprising fishcakes, prawncakes, deep fried Thai spring rolls and deep fried beancurd. The Green Curry Chicken is aromatic and pleasantly lighter, so you can pair it with rice without feeling sick. Order the Steamed Tofu with Chicken Basil; the combination goes surprisingly well. If you're heading there for lunch, consider getting their set lunches that come with a main course, drink and dessert.
Pretty much everyone has heard about Nakhon kitchen, be it for their cheap good Thai food or their horrendous long queues. However for the number of people in line, the wait was relatively not that long. Food wise, it was pretty great for the price, with each dish coming up to $6 or so. The phad thai tang hoon was the winner for me. It was something different from the usual phad thai, and the glass noodles were just so good. I really liked the fried pork with garlic - then again you can never go wrong with this dish. The Tom yum soup with coconut milk was interesting, but I still prefer the original I think. All in all, a pretty good meal that's definitely worth it's price, that is, if you're willing to wait it out.
This is truly a gem of a neighborhood eatery where most people living around the area will turn to for a quick thai fix. Had to queue for 30minutes(which is normal), but it was worth the wait! Dishes here are priced at around $6-$10. I like the phad thai(my fav thai dish), green curry, chicken wrapped with pandan leaves and not forgetting, ICED THAI MILK TEA!! Chinhojiak! Do come here to satisfy your thai food cravings.
Having gained popularity, it is no surprise that it will take you almost 30 minutes to get to the front of the queue during peak hours. Getting a trusty Thai fix to satisfy your craving is a lot easier, now that Nakhon has 3 outlets. The Tom Yum soup (you can choose to have the clear or thick base) here is tangy yet subtly sweet, and will kick your butt with its spiciness. If you need a drink to quell the spiciness, their Thai Iced Tea will do the trick. Most dishes are reasonably priced, with meats ranging from $6-$8 and seafood dishes priced from $10 onwards. Order a plate of rice to go with your dishes so you can mop up all that saucy goodness.
Don't miss this! It is so fresh and so yummy! (5/5)
