Just did a face lift for my blog plus a new blog post for #kuishinbosg! Can't wait for my next crab feast 😋😋
Nestled in the lovely Greenwood neighborhood, Shin Yuu is a great place for a relaxing Japanese buffet on a Saturday afternoon at $39.90 per pax. Must-try dishes on the menu include the special chawanmushi with salmon roe, the spare ribs teriyaki, dory fish topped with cheese, and the special prawns with miso and mayo. Photo by Shin Yuu.

I would say this is the best and one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants I've had the pleasure to go to over the years. The food is fantastic, the service is attentive but not intrusive and the atmosphere is really nice. On the part of dessert, I wouldn't suggest to order the Creme Brûlée, it's not smooth enough and I don't think they use real vanilla bean so it's not particularly flavourful. Everything else is really fantastic though!
Japannese curry rice sedap!
Sumibi chicken curry rice $7.90 and Ulimited Original Curry Rice $19.90 (pork、chicken、beef、potato and hard boil egg😍
Because I wanted to try this after hearing so much raves.
I chose Yasai (SGD16) which consisted of salmon poke mixed with soy sauce and ponzu sauce, with balsamic tomatoes, mixed sultanas and onsen egg. I topped up with Ninja rice (SGD2) which is a blend of vinegared Japanese pearl rice and brown rice with seaweed flakes.
I love this! Such a beautifully plated dish which is yummy and healthy! 😋😋
Fuel up on long shopping days at this Wisma Atria foodcourt stall. Prices start from $4.80 for a plate of original curry rice (fried toppings from additional $1.20) but if you're dining in a small group, go right for their famed Japanese Ultimate Original Curry Rice ($19.80) — it easily feeds three. Expect a heaping portion of white rice, pork cutlet, chicken cutlet, fried shrimp, hashbrown and a soft-boiled egg, slathered in their tasty curry sauce. As Burpple Tastemaker Julius Lim says: "It's go big or go home".
Chase away your Monday blues with a visit to Hana Hana, Teppei's second Tras Link outlet. Come for their Monday Higawari (daily lunch special) — the famed Kaisen Don ($17.60) served with a free scoop of Negitoro (minced raw tuna, $8) alongside refillable side dishes such as stewed meat and potatoes or bean sprouts tossed in soy sauce. To beat the crazy lunch crowd, try to get here around noon to snag a seat! Pro tip: The same Kaisen Don and negitoro lunch special is served at Teppei, just next to Hana Hana, on Thursdays!
This was my first chirashi don ever eaten! Genki sushi's chirashi don is cheap ($12.90 before gst and service charge) and average to eat. The sashimi is not horrible but I can't say it's very fresh either. It contains prawn sashimi which is not widely seen at other Japanese restaurants' chirashi don so if you're a fan of it, you will be a happy person here. Genki's triple salmon sushi remains the ultimate bomb so I will definitely go back for that! But not the chirashi don unless I'm already seated there and craving for one.
We had their foie gras truffle Yakiniku which consisted of a thick slab of foie gras that melts in your mouth, well marinated meat, flowy egg and that garlicky butter rice with mushroom has so much flavor to it, you just can't stop at a spoon 😱. Lunch sets go at $19.90
Oh glorious sashimi! Always looking forward to having unlimited sashimi, and you know you can always rely on Ikoi for that sashimi fix. Another hit here would be the salmon skin handroll with the crispiness paired with a creamy mentaiko-liked sauce. So crispy you can hear the crunch when you bite into it! The other dishes of the buffet ($38++) were unfortunately underwhelming.
Scallop Mentaiyaki Carpaccio is a must order whenever I come to Sushi Bar (besides the sushi rolls of course). Thinly sliced fresh scallop done carpaccio style goes wonderfully with the salty creaminess of the mentaiko sauce. More please!
Throwback to last week's dinner at Ikoi Japanese Restaurant. Buffet dinner is pretty affordable at $38++ per adult and the spread is quite extensive. However, as I do not eat sashimi (which I have heard many people complimenting it), I can only take a nice photo of it. My friends went crazy and even ordered additional premium grade salmon belly from the ala carte menu (costs not included in the buffet).
