Bite-sized Treats
This was the last cookie, and the staff really kindly gave it to me for free, thank you soooo much! I felt really, really bad but I enjoyed it so much and was really, really happy on the inside 😂 It was a much needed pick-me-up after my day. Don't be deceived by its appearance, because I expected the cookie to be very crunchy, but it was actually really chewy yet firm to the bite. I think they used a mix of old fashioned rolled oats as well as steel cut oats to get the texture of the cookie which was more chewy than crunchy. (And as someone who lovesss chewy cookies this was a win for me.) This tastes SO MUCH better than Subway Oatmeal Cookies, and they were super generous with the raisins inside the cookie that every bite had a few pieces. Not only do they make a hella good toast, they also make a lot of other yummy bakes. Their bakes are rotational, so expect something different every week!
Opened by the previous owners of Karafuru desserts, Kumoya likewise remains a Japanese-inspired cafe with light sweets, aesthetic designs and pretty desserts. We ordered the matcha, yuzu, pistachio and cassis (Christmas flavour) for our petite eclairs. Likewise to Japanese desserts, they were not very sweet (for a massive sweet tooth like me - this wasn't sweet at all, and couldn't satiate my sweet cravings) with flavours remaining light rather than prominent. Have to admit that the choux felt a little too dry for my liking, but nothing a few tweaks can't fix!
Wouldn't say this is the 'best muffin' in Singapore, but very reasonable for its price as it remained so moist, yet remained structured instead of crumbling apart as I carried them home. They also aren't very sweet, so I wouldn't feel a sugar rush even if I downed all four in one shot.
Although it doesn't show much, this mochi was grilled on a waffle maker, making it slightly crispy on the outside before getting delightfully chewy on the inside. I like how this wasn't sweetened to death, which let the bitter matcha powder to light through, and the sweetened red bean did just enough to add an edge. I was hoping for actual matcha Mochi, but it's just the Flavours they add as toppings.
Not the cheapest dessert around, but seriously worth your money for the size of this vanilla cream puff. Absolutely delicious, with a cookie-like crispy crust that crumbles lightly, and an addictive vanilla bean cream that is thick, yet not cloying. You can get this in a small or a larger size, and I recommend you to get the BIGGEST size possible. So incredibly delish 😍
I was both slightly appalled and intrigued by this so I had to get myself a box. Strangely, I fell in love with its smooth, bouncy texture which was an in between of Korean rice cakes and jelly. It wasn't sticky, with a slight bouncy texture. Loved this!!! Wish I could get ten more boxes! The warabi was coated in soybean powder (injeolmi) green tea and black sesame!
everytime I pop by Westgate, I make sure to go to the basement of Isetan just to grab a bunch of these chewy mochis home for me and my family! Apart from my favourite blueberry and white chocolate mochi, these brown sugar flavoured ones were also a delight!
Custardy goodness (but I couldn't really taste the honey?) that is demolished in a mouthful. Is part of the Japanese food fair currently outside Isetan B1!
So easily pop-able into one's mouth and gone just like that! I like how they are so generous with the fillings - but then again it is so tiny! Isetan is currently having a Japanese Food Fair so do check it out!

Huge sweet-tooth, and yes - I do attempt to eat dessert for every meal.
