Dimsum
The family's favourite place for dim sum - perhaps the only(?) place that still serves dim sum using trolleys. Aunties pushing out different varieties of dim sum and the popular kinds getting swarmed with the enthusiastic diners who decided they cant wait. Very old school. Very old HK. Very authentic ambience(minus their attempt to decorate the place with Xmas-y decor😆).
Personally i don't think ALL their dim sum are that good. The siew mai is definitely good! Generous shrimps and thin dumpling skin👍🏼Close second would be the liu sha bao. The liu sha was a good balance of sweet & savoury and most importantly it is grainy; which in my opinion should always be the case. Those smooth kind just taste so "artificial". I like the ming xia jiao but only when it is still hot when served.
Overall I feel the charm is in the ambience. It is definitely what keeps us going back. There is really no place quite like this anymore here in SG.
My second round of orders can't even fit in.
A gruesome mess at the bottom 2.
Top: venison peeking out!
Bottom left: five grains mushroom
Bottom right: traditional roasted meat HK style
Everything's pretty darn good especially the har gow and siew mai! Dope!!!
Succulent pork meat with almost no fats melted in my mouth.
Baked char siew bao and it is only available on Sunday.
;) The skin is green as they have infused matcha into it, but there wasn't much green tea taste when I ate it. Perhaps the sweet flavourful BBQ pork fillings had masked the faint matcha flavour?
Worth every cent! The atmosphere, wide choices and quality of each dish is simply too good to be true.
One of the amazing dish you should order when you're at Asia Grand. Known by the locals that the food is surely good. Remember to dip with the soya sauce before you eat it!
One of the best roast pork ever! Perfect proportion of fats:meat with crisp skin! Can improve on presentation thou.
Part 3 - Crispy fish skin with salted egg yolk, steamed truffle dumpling with lobster, pan fried turnip cakes and baked durian pastry.
($9.80) one of my favorite dimsum here!! Usual silky cheongfun, stuffed with crunchy fresh prawns, scallop, vegetable, and a layer of crispy bits for good texture. Absolutely delish!
