Deep fried and served with spicy sour fish broth and fresh vegetables, this was another winning dish that we tried. The sea bass was very fresh and comes in filet form (boneless) which ensures a more hassle-free consumption; the assam was also very good, with the right balance of spice and sourness. Recommended to order if you are dining here in a big group.

Thanks Burpple for inviting and Enjoy Eating House and Bar for hosting us.

With limited servings daily, the smooth & creamy collagen-rich fish soup is achieved through hours of preparation with no milk added. The soup tasted so good and comforting especially if you have it on a rainy weather day like we did. Each bowl also comes with fish slices from fish sourced locally, cabbage and Shimeji mushrooms.

Smoky and succulent premium pork cheek grilled to charred perfection and served with Chef Joel’s special sauce, this dish is another must try at Enjoy Eating House and Bar.

Named Ugly Cabbage because of it’s lack of appearance, this was one of those dish that looked unattractive but tasted oh so good.

There was a good wok hei taste, and the crunchy cabbage soaked up all the intense flavours so well. In fact, it was so good that we ordered another bowl of it to share.

Another dish we tried and liked was the Singapore Style Chilli Prawns where you get fresh prawns cooked in chilli crab sauce. Apparently prawns were used instead of the usual crab for a more hassle-free consumption.

The chilli crab sauce tasted more towards the sweeter side, like a tomato sauce. It had a good thick consistency and the tangy texture made it perfect for some mantou-dipping! The mini mantous (4 for $2) were a delight as well; so crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside and is certainly good enough to be eaten on its own for me.

Using a recipe from his grandma, Chef Joel has created a delightful dish.

The pork trotter was braised to perfection, with none of that ‘porky’ smell and it was so succulent and tender that it melted in my mouth. The wok fried vermicelli tasted great too; it had a great flavourful bite with all that wok hei. Together with the accompanying savoury sauce, this dish was an absolute treat.

Chicken cutlet drenched in chilli crab sauce is certainly an interesting & potentially yummy combination, but unfortunately this was one of those that looked better than it tasted.

They have other chicken items like Salted Egg Chicken ($18.90), Goma Chicken ($17.90) & Truffle Chicken ($16.90) on their menu as well. Plus, they are also on Burpple Beyond, so if you’re looking for a western meal in the area and wanna save some money, this place can be an option.

Thanks Burpple for inviting and The Grumpy Bear for the food.

If you’re wondering why the taro drinks pictured do not look like the typical purple coloured ones you find elsewhere, that is because they do not use any artificial colourings and preservatives; blending their taro down to a clumpy mix, allowing you to sip up bits of real taro. Overall, the drinks were light in taste yet quite filling (which is why they only offer medium size for this series).

Do check them out if you’re in the area and craving for a taro beverage. Thanks @yifangtea.sg for the drinks and @melmeleats for lending a hand.

If you have trouble deciding which beer to choose from, ordering their beer sample set would be a good option. Each sample glass of beers (which are all brewed in house) are strategically placed atop their respective names, so you would know which beers you’re sampling.

My personal favourite would be the Golden Wheat beer; it was light and refreshing with a nice aroma.

The Patlican Musakka is a dish made with lamb, eggplant, potato, green pepper, tomato & cheese. I enjoyed this dish with the richness of the cheese playing a big factor in that. This is a dish that is good for sharing between 2-3 pax; also comes with rice and flatbread.
