In celebration of Singapore's 54th birthday, @butterknifefolk has come up with a whole range of interesting flavours⨠.

The flavours are interesting in the way that you wouldn't usually see them in ice cream form, such as laksa, chilli crab, chicken rice, muah chee etc, but the names pretty much speak for themselves πΉ

I was pretty sh00ked especially when i tried the chicken rice because... was i eating dessert or a legit meal??π€ .

As much as i enjoyed the novelty of sampling the different flavours, i eventually settled for the less adventurous Gula Melaka Pandan Cake, which had generous bits of fluffy pandan chiffon rolled within the gula melaka flavoured ice cream. I loved how the ice cream wasn't too sweet for meπ
.
Rather than just food colouring, the red and green udon is made with korean chilli powder and kyoto uji matcha powder respectively. The chilli udon leaves a tingling sensation, but was nothing too strong. It had a rather grainy texture, and flakes of chilli can be seen in the udon. On the other hand, the matcha udon had a smoother texture and the lingering aftertaste of the matcha powder π I found the distinctness of each flavour to be quite surprising. Even after mixing the mentaiko and onsen egg in, the individual flavour of the different udon was not entirely lost, though they did get less pronounced, which is expected as the taste of the mentaiko is really rich. Also, perhaps because the udon is served chilled, it had a firmer and more chewy texture than normal, which I really liked π

Ever heard of MATCHA Risotto?π€π Well, I haven't, at least not till @bemyguestcafe 's rendition π
Despite loving all things matcha, I have to admit that I had my own doubts and reservations about the dish, as I've always had my matcha sweet rather than in a savoury main course like this??π

I was actually prepared to be disappointed but I was so wrong. The matcha-flavored risotto actually suited my palate and the flavours of the dish really blended together quite harmoniously, though not really the fresh decorations of strawberries, but thats rather minor. With every spoonful, I could taste the characteristic rich, cheesy and creamy sauce which was laced with distinct and robust notes of matcha. .

Seems like Mala's all the rage nowadays, and has even made it to KARA's menu in the form of these Mala noodles.
The noodles are the super thin kind, which are definitely not my preferred type of noodles, but what was disappointing was the texture of the noodles, which were rather limp. Would have been great if there was more bite to them, as the noodles were actually rather flavourful and fragrant, albeit not as spicy as I expected them to be. Perhaps they could take it a step further and let customers choose from their levels of spiciness; οΌδΈ/ε°/δΈ/倧 θΎ£? πΉ)
As for the other components of the dish, my favourite would be the fragrant and crunchy peanuts! The cucumbers and pickles also lent the dish a nice refreshing crunch.
The chicken was rather underwhelming though, being a tad dry and it seemed as though they did not manage to absorb the fragrance of the chilli oil enough.
This is actually my favourite dumplings of those that I've tried so far, with generous slices of flavourful smoked duck encase within silky smooth skin. Not sure what the sauces are exactly but there was a really pleasant and appetising tangy taste. These babies are available as part of their $16 set meal or $8 for 5 pcs ala carte!
Dumplings were perfectly fried till golden brown and not too oily. The truffle potato had a nice hint of truffle, but nothing too strong or overwhelming. What I really liked though, was the combination of the smoked bacon and the cheesiness of the dumplingsπ There could definitely have been more fillings as my dumplings had quite abit of empty space. Be sure to mop up the sriracha mayo which packs an addictive spice!
Had this chicken rice burger ($5.50) from @thehumbleburger and i seriously LOVED IT. In this innovative take of the local chicken rice dish, The rice was fried to perfection. It was crisp and the batter not too thick nor oily.
If you haven't been here or have been here but not tried this out, TRY IT πΉ (but cannot guarantee you will like okay because different people different opinion don't come find me if you happen to not like this ππ) But seriously, i would eat this more often if it wasn't so out of the way for me π

There was also tomato salsa atop the patty but i personally felt that it failed to enhance the taste of the whole burger and the flavours did not blend quite well together. Would have preferred to have done away with the tomato salsa.
Overall the burger left me satisfied as it was non-greasy,flavourful and the portion was also rather generous. The quinoa and cauliflower patty was thick and they did not skimp on the amount of hummus given. The mushrooms and side salad was very well-marinated too.

Of all the dishes that we tried, the DIY sliders ($14) which comes with your choice of Pork/Chicken coin bakkwa was definitely the highlight for meπ
You can make your own mini burger with the various ingredients such as quail eggs, lettuce, caramelised onion and tomatoes. Oh and you absolutely HAVE TO spam that sambal mayo sauce given. Its just so good I had to add more of it ππFragrant with a nice spicy kick that paired really well with the bakkwa. The mini burger buns were toasted really nicely too ππ Would totally recommend a visit to try all the other interesting items on the menu too. You don't have to wait till CNY to have your bakkwa fix! π

The bak kwa was delightfully sweet and went well with the layer of cheese sandwhiched in between, though i personally would have preferred more cheese and perhaps more of that mayo which seemed to have been there for aesthetic purposes.
