Shared the burpple set amongst 3 people and it fed us well! Loved the phad thai with omelette ($10.50+) - a really sizeable portion with just the right hint of sweetness! The omelette didn’t add much though, so it’d be just as good without. The green curry with beef ($13.50+) was rich with coconut!

Shared the burpple set amongst 3 people and it fed us well! The tom yum fried rice ($10.50+) was fragrant with plenty of ingredients. The oyster sauce kailan ($10+) was really yummy and a good balance to our meal!

You can always count on this stall in Mei Ling for a good meal! Scored a whole fish, 1 meat, 2 vegetables and 1 tofu for $50. Loved the spicy zest of the fish, and the crunchy garlic in the pork.

Shared a couple of dishes for lunch! The pad thai ($5.90++) had a good mix of savoury & sweet flavours and I really liked the noodles. The pineapple fried rice ($5.90++) was generous with its ingredients, but a tad too sweet for me. The basil chicken ($5.90++) packed a punch with the chilli padi stirred into minced chicken, French beans and basil leaves.

Popped by for a quick lunch when we were in the neighbourhood and got some dishes to share! The kailan with crispy pork ($9.90) was easily our favourite dish, with plenty of garlic and a spicy kick. The pork fell a little flat though, as it was soggy and a little tough to chew. The stir-fried chicken with cashew ($9.90) came with large cubes of tender meat and plenty of onions & capsicums, coated in a slightly sweet & spicy sauce. The rice was rather dry, but the chicken pad thai ($6) fared much better - the noodles had a good bite and came with plenty of ingredients! Wasn’t too crowded during the weekend lunch, and was super pleased that there were no extra taxes :-)

Run by a Thai couple, this is a popular stall at Mei Ling hawker centre. We were adventurous and tried the deep fried fish with mango sauce ($21)! Was half afraid that it might end up sweet but was pleasantly surprised with the zesty raw mango and use of chilli seeds & garlic. Also ordered the cashew chicken ($8), kai lan ($5) and Thai fishcake ($5). In particular, the service is impeccable - the lady boss remembered that one of us had a prawn allergy, and came to our table to inform us that the fish dish had some hei bi in it. She later kindly separated the sauce from the fish! Kudos to them :-)

Located in an industrial estate, Soi 47’s second outlet is located near Lavender/ Bendemeer. With most of its dishes priced below $10 and Thai chefs, Soi 47 promises an authentic experience. We ordered the cashew chicken ($6.80) which came in a sweet-sour sauce, capsicums and onions. I found the batter a bit thick and fat, but the dish was certainly flavourful and fulfilling! The tom khai ($6.80) was much thinner than expected, with little coconut milk. It was however generous with its seafood - containing prawns, mussels, squid and some battered fish. We ordered the ice thai milk tea ($3) and ice lemongrass ($2.50). Similarly found the drinks diluted and a tad too sweet. The meal was definitely made worthwhile with burpple beyond’s 1-for-1 main dish & drink!

Was worried that the portions might be small given the price, but we ended up stuffed to the brim! We had both types tom yum prawn soup ($5.90++) - the clear version was much sharper/ spicier whilst the red was more tomato-based. The deep fried tofu ($3.90++) came with Thai chilli sauce and the red chicken curry ($5.90++) was richly flavoured. Was surprised to find that the deep fried chicken with cashew came in a sweet & sour sauce, but it was a good contrast to the other spicy dishes! Also really liked the vegetables - we had kangkong with spicy shrimp paste ($5.90++) and kailan with mushrooms ($5.90++). The mango sticky rice ($5.90++) was a good end to the meal! Definitely value for money.

Tried this place due to the good reviews from famous food critics online, but was sorely disappointed. I tried the beef boat noodles ($6+) - the rice noodles were firm and well cooked but overwhelmed by the salty broth. The portion was measly for the amount paid - there were only a few spoons of noodles and some thin slices of meet. Another tried the Thai basil rice ($6+) but found the flavour lacking. We also shared the mango sticky rice ($6+). The mango itself was great but it came with flavoured pandan rice that all of us didn’t like. A really unsatisfying experience overall.
