Ever since my trip to Korea, I fell in love with Korean spicy cold noodles (bibim nangmyeon). And now I’ve found a decent one in SG at 𝑪𝒉𝒐-𝒘𝒐𝒏 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑲𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒕!

The 𝑲𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑵𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔 (𝑩𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒎 𝑵𝒂𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒎𝒚𝒆𝒐𝒏), $18, is a bowl of buckwheat noodles served in a chilled icy broth, with sweet and spicy gochujang sauce, slivers of Korean pear, radish pickles, slices of beef brisket and a half-boiled egg with a soft and fudgy centre. Though the beef is a bit tough and dry, the whole dish is still deliciously refreshing, especially in Singapore’s hot weather.

Other than the cold noodles, they also serve BBQ and other Korean dishes. But my fave has got to be the Soy Braised Potatoes, which is soft, sweet and caramelised.

Ever since my trip to Korea, I fell in love with Korean spicy cold noodles (bibim nangmyeon). And now I’ve found a decent one in SG at 𝑪𝒉𝒐-𝒘𝒐𝒏 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑲𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒕!

The 𝑲𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑵𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒔 (𝑩𝒊𝒃𝒊𝒎 𝑵𝒂𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒎𝒚𝒆𝒐𝒏), $18, is a bowl of buckwheat noodles served in a chilled icy broth, with sweet and spicy gochujang sauce, slivers of Korean pear, radish pickles, slices of beef brisket and a half-boiled egg with a soft and fudgy centre. Though the beef is a bit tough and dry, the whole dish is still deliciously refreshing, especially in Singapore’s hot weather.

Other than the cold noodles, they also serve BBQ and other Korean dishes. I tried the 𝑺𝒐𝒚𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒘 (𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑫𝒐𝒆𝒏𝒋𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑱𝒋𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒆), $13.80, and the 𝑲𝒊𝒎𝒄𝒉𝒊 𝑺𝒕𝒆𝒘 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑷𝒐𝒓𝒌 (𝑲𝒊𝒎𝒄𝒉𝒊 𝑱𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒂𝒆), $11.80, which are served in a claypot that keeps the stew piping hot till the last drop. Would have liked a bit more generous pieces of pork in the kimchi jiggae though.

A bonus to eating at Chowon Garden is the feast of banchan they serve—5 small plates of side dishes with every meal, just like in Korea! The side dishes rotate on a daily basis, so you may try different dishes on different days. I’ve tried the Seasoned Seaweed, Kimchi, Seasoned Beansprouts, Stir-Fried Fishcake, Vegetable Noodle Salad, Spicy Braised Tofu... But my fave has got to be the Soy Braised Potatoes, which is soft, sweet and caramelised.
