Managed to secure a table at the eleventh hour at the highly coveted @miznonsg - Singapore’s first Israeli restaurant. Hailing from Tel Aviv, the pita bread that’s based on a secret recipe is air flown frozen from Israel.
If you totally aren’t a fan of bread, then the Hraime ($26) is one main you can order. A spicy Moroccan barramundi stew with tahini, chilli and cilantro. I enjoyed the comforting, tangy tomato stew (lots of tomatoes in it) and it’s wonderful when you dip the pita bread in it. The barramundi was lightly seasoned although the serving was a tad small.
Was it spicy? Not really. Perhaps it can do with a little more harissa.
Almost every item on the menu has vegetables and tahini made from ground sesame seeds sourced from Israel and then mixed with olive oil, lemon juice and salt.
A flattened baked potato and served on baking sheets. It’s topped with sour cream. A bit too bland for my liking.

The Hot Chickpeas with melted tahini, hard boiled egg, onion, chilli and pita. The chickpeas were soft and if you want some flavour, eat it with the tahini and chilli. P.S. Thanks chef for giving this to us.
KEBABS are always an amazing meal to have if done right. Managed to secure a table at the eleventh hour at the highly coveted @miznonsg - Singapore’s first Israeli restaurant. Abu Kebab ($24). It’s one of the bestsellers here - Beef and lamb meatballs, tahini, chilli, salsa, pickles, onions and parsley. Highly recommended if you eat beef and lamb. These meatballs are HUGE and FLAVOURFUL. I feel that this sorts of justify the price point.
You might be thinking why a Middle Eastern restaurant might be serving crab toast. But Artichoke isn’t a place where you feast on conventional Middle Eastern food.
I was amazed by the crab toast with chicken crackling and trout roe ($16++). So this may look like an elevated version of a crab mayonnaise toast but it isn’t.
The base features fluffy brioche buns that are baked in-house. A generous serving and sweet blue swimmer crab is mixed with tzatziki. What a pleasure it is to devour this small yet satisfying snack. The popping bursts of umami from the trout roe played its part in boosting the flavour profile of this toast.
And not forgetting about the chicken crackling which is basically fried chicken skin. What hit my soft spot was that the skin was really crispy and not oily at all, and certainly added a crunch to the dish. You can never go wrong with fried chicken skin.
This was part of the tasting menu and this picture may not accurately reflect the portion of the ala carte version.
