Each carrot cake had a crispy exterior, and flavour was decent but felt that it's slightly pricey for the portion.
Other food we had:
- cod fish dumpling with pickled chilli ($8.80)
- steamed chives & meat dumpling ($7.80)
- charcoal barbecued pork bun ($8.80)
We spent about $180 in total for 4 pax.
Overall most items didn't disappoint, only that the price is on a slightly higher side, but you're prob paying for quality and presentation of their food!
Overall Rating: 7.5/10
These were crispy, wrapping really huge prawns within once again. I managed to try the exterior and enjoyed the flavours, but sadly can't have the prawns.
Crispy and crunchy puff, but didn't like that the dough/ pastry was too thick (which made it slightly hard and dry). Interesting because it's Tomato-based sauce within, but slightly too salty.
The yam paste within was so thick!! Puff was also crispy and not too thick here.
Pretty intrigued because these aren't your traditional siewmai, and instead brushed with sticky teriyaki glaze, giving a sweet savoury combi
Mini buns which had a good strong salted egg flavour that I enjoyed, whilst being creamy but not too milky.
Beautiful blue hue which had unanimous approval from everyone else (not from me because I can't eat prawns) about the really huge, juicy and flavourful prawns.
Loved how strong the truffle mushroom flavours were, and had good bite from the mushroom bits within.
These gorgeous colours just 🤩 NGL pretty pricey but I'd order once for the experience.
Starting from Orange & going clockwise:
- Kimchi - couldn't really taste kimchi sadly.
- Sze Chuan (red - didn't try this)
- Hainanese Chicken Rice - really gave chicken rice vibes, with ginger flavours
- Braised Pork - reminded of the kouroubao sauce
- Bak Kut Teh - pretty rich bkt soup in a xlb
- Tomyum - surprisingly q good too.
Located at Orchid Hotel, Tanjong Pagar, their food really catches your attention with their beautiful presentation, and I finally tried their dimsum after saving them to my list for some time!
Crispy mini pumpkin pastry ($6.80)
Really cute pumpkin which had a crispy exterior & slightly chewy skin, filled with minced chicken, mushroom, and thyme. It's actly not bad but I'd have loved it even more as a sweet dimsum.
Steamed Rice Rolls stuffed with Shredded Jicama, Dried Shrimps and Chinese Mushrooms ($7.80)
This was pretty crispy, and for those who don't know, jicama is actually Mexican Turnip. Interesting flavour because of what's stuffed within the rice rolls.
We were overall actually q disappointed because there were q a bit of misses/ average items despite the high price point, but it could also be that the better items were already sold out in the first seating, leaving us with limited options.
There's certainly a strong mushroom flavour, which mushroom lovers will enjoy, although I wouldn't rave about it.
