𝐉𝐚𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐦𝐲𝐞𝐨𝐧 - Always enjoy black bean noodles and they serve a decent version. Generous amounts of sauce coats the ultra springy and chewy noodles. While the sauce was savory with just the right salty-sweetness (from the cameralised onions), personally felt that it was quite one-note, lacking the flavour complexity and wok hei of our current favourite version from Obba Jjang. Also felt that texture contrast from the incorporation of more crunchy cucumber/ soft mushrooms would have elevated this standard dish. It could also do with some spicy kick and we found pairing it with the cut chilli peppers from the spicy noodle soup / kimchi side to add another dimension

𝐉𝐣𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐠 - One for the spicy lovers! This packed a kick with the use of cut chilli peppers although did find the spice to somewhat overpower the seafood flavours. It was packed full of vegetables and sweet, soft onions (a bit too much tbh) and we wished for more and bigger variety of seafood than the current offering of squid.

Located diagonally across Novena Square (just an overhead bridge away) is @mukjja_sg, a Korean🇰🇷-Chinese🇨🇳 fusion restaurant that serves one of the best👍 Jjajangmyeon in 🇸🇬. For you rice🍚 fanatics out there, you might want to order their rice version that comes with an extra sunny-side-up egg🍳. For those that want a taste of their Signature Sweet & Sour Pork🐷 (Tangsuyuk), there are slightly cheaper set menus available!

👉Noodle with Black Bean Sauce - SGD11
👉Black Bean Sauce with Rice - SGD15

Expect free-flow banchan (side dishes) such as kimchi, sliced pickled radish & raw onions with special black bean sauce, along with complimentary🆓 jasmine tea🫖 to quench your thirst😌.

Drenched over in rich and comforting black bean gravy, both their noodles and rice version will certainly transport your tastebuds to Korea🇰🇷. Special mention goes out to their noodles, which were firm yet bouncy and had the right amount of chewiness to them😋👍.

P.S. Why is their Jjajangbap significantly more expensive compared to their Jjajangmyeon? @mukjja_sg, please enlighten me😂

Tangsuyuk is like Robin to Jajjangmyeon's Batman. They are good on their own but even better together.

@jinseisayshi brought me to @mukjja_sg at Novena Regency recently for their samseon jjajangmyeon (삼선쟁반짜장면) recently (which I forgot to take a picture of).

"Samseon" means fresh delicacies from the land, sky and water but it usually used in korean-chinese cuisine to mean a dish with various types of seafood. At MukJja, the natural sweetness of the seafood complements the slightly earthy, sweet yet savoury notes of stir-fried chunjang (black bean paste). The tangy sourness of the tangsuyuk elevates this messy delicious noodle dish to the next level.

I still personally prefer the jajjangmyeon at Hwang Sil but this is a close second!

LOL🤨. That was the reaction I had when the dumplings were served. Nothing fancy about it and the size was minute!! Just skip this dish!
