More Reviews of good food at Nara Thai Cuisine (Westgate)

Wow! Nara actually sells lou Hei! Tried their lou hei with salmon @ $29.90.. the portion is nice for 3-4 pax as appetizer. Service here is good as well. They actually help us mix the ingredients.. so we don't need to mix ourselves where normally it will be messed up.

Generous slices of tender roasted duck breast, marinated before the slow simmer & every bite were relatively addictive.
Enjoyed the food of course, though definitely not so much to the service here at Westgate as compared to its Ion Orchard's outlet.
Perhaps having late lunch at 4am was a terrible idea because they seemed so occupied with food photoshoot for future marketing that even though it's true - they shouldn't have made it so obvious that not all customers are equal. No one attended us outside, resorted to taking our own menu & sitting ourselves down, no ice water, no smiles, what else. & The reason why some customers visit at odd timings' probably to avoid slower service during peak hours, but I felt that this place isn't leveraging on its off-peak revenues. Sorry. I'll just stick to the Ion's outlet thanks.

A complicated name for those of us who can't read Thai. But essentially, this is a simple French toast topped with minced meat. Interesting as this is my first time trying a savory French toast. The accompanying sauce is spicy and sourish, perfect for a deep fried item. A pretty good starter that made a great snack for me.

Nara Thai had seemed like an unlikely candidate for tea break.. until I saw their Ka Tang Na Tang (rice crackers with pork and prawns coconut dip) on IG. It looked like the perfect snack to munch in between meals. The rice crackers were very crunchy and the accompanying dip tasted like a non spicy satay sauce. Overall not bad but I would have preferred the dip to be spicier and less sweet.

I always begin a Thai meal with a Thai Iced Milk Tea. A little disappointed this time round. The drink wasn't cold enough when it came. And became diluted after it became chilled enough as the ice melts.

A melange of other herbs and spices is also used — from coriander roots to peppercorns and more — to make this rich and creamy concoction. A versatile curry, it can be used to cook chicken, beef and just like this rendition here, salmon. Ok, that's all.

A type of herb also known as Thai acacia, cha om has a very intense herbal note and can be an acquired taste. However, the strong pungency is toned down a notch when cooked. What a delight. Ok, that's all.

Spicy papaya salad with salted egg $12.90. Nothing can go wrong with salted egg dishes. This was a pleasant surprise as I've never tasted papaya salad with salted egg before, it's so appetizing & refreshing at the same time! A little too spicy for me that I kept reaching out for my Cha Yen (Iced Milk Tea) but those who can take spice, this is game for you!

#PicFrame dinner with close friends!!! Enjoy the company even just a few hours.

Flavorful, sour but not too spicy! Prawns were big and fresh too. Definitely one of the better Tomyum kung I've had!

This is the Stir Fried Hot Basil Chicken with Steamed Jasmine Rice. Find the portions rather small for main dishes but this is a normal serving.

If you love thick curry that is heavy on coconut milk, try this!

We had crab omelette, green curry, & pad thai.

Barbecued pork with tamarind dip. Juicy and tender pork dipped into the specialty made tamarind sauce... taste so good with their blue pea rice!

Stir-fried Kailan with crispy pork. I have to admit... the pork is really crispy and the vegetables have absorbed the rich fatty taste from the pork! Yums!
