Almost a year later away from NTU, got to try the minced meat noodle again. Though price has increase by $0.50 due to rising cost and inflation (now $3.00 & $3.80 for small & big portion), tastewise still the same.
Had this every day for a period of time in 2016 and it’s always worth the walk even though we weren’t studying at NIE! After so many years and it still tastes like how I remembered it 🥰
The uncle allows you to select the ingredients you want to add if you upsize to large but remember to recite your orders slightly louder as the ambiance is pretty noisy with the fire, cooking, and the message gets attenuated through the glass food display and old age. Your patience will be rewarded with good food in generous portions 🫶🏻
The prawns are halved and nicely deshelled, the chilli and shallot oil combo is amazing and it’s a good idea to ask for more if you enjoy the higher spice level 🔥
Despite the minor increase in pricing, their noodles were still as great as ever. Plus, its so much better and cheaper than NTU side.
Big bowl of springy noodles with the perfect amount of vinegar sauce mixture to give a savoury tangy taste. It was also topped off with braised mushroom and a load of meaty minced meat. The large bowl also include that fried wanton and fishcake. The perfect meal and pricing.

Crispy, umami and tender prawn paste chicken on top of fluffy, moist and wok hei aromatic fried rice. Damn, this is tastisfying. The wok hei standard like the one you had for outside zi char. Plus, the price is good. Iirc, the plain fried rice cost like a dollar cheaper. Wow! Take my money.

A satisfying bowl of tom yum soup with a balance of spicyness and sournesss, along with a slight creamy flavour. Here you can customise your noodles (e.g. Ee Mian) and toppings (e.g. minced meat). Prices had been revised across all stalls at NIE canteen since 1 July 2022.
The legendary BCM at NIE Canteen will be gone in a couple of month's time. No idea if they are shutting for good or moving somewhere else but this is a good time for you to come and enjoy a hearty bowl of noodles with overflowing ingredients at an insanely cheap price.
This is my first time trying their fishball noodles after having BCM for so many times and I love it as well. The fishballs were firm but springy!

Long queues are to be expected at this one! This one joined the ranks of the NIE BCM as the most popular stall at the canteen. The noodles are springy and doesn't clump together like some of those you get elsewhere while the sauce is flavourful. Chilli is extremely spicy while the soup is robust.
It felt like it was some sweet corn base soup. However, the noodles had some sense of springiness and was accompanied by an generous serving of ingredients. :

This is the true definition of good food at low prices! I asked for extra ingredients and this was the bowl of goodness that I got and it's only $3.50! Queue was pretty long still, considering that it is now the semester break!
