Taiyaki!!! The best part is the outer is not the regular waffle's texture, it's a puff!!! It's like eating croissant with filling. I read the review online that it wasn't so good. However, when I tried, it is yummy!!!! They heat it up for me. I had the chocolate one yesterday and tried the cream cheese with corn today. Both are delicious. You guys really have to give this one another try.
Because I have a penchant for Japanese mochi, we decided to try this new dessert kiosk at 313@Somerset. It's quite a huge piece of mochi (it's quite substantial for one to finish!), but it is so soft and chewy, you'd enjoy it even if you weren't a mochi lover. The Belgium dark chocolate was deliciously dark and rich, melting in the mouth against the chewy mochi skin.
My only gripe was the gluey smell of the mochi skin that I found rather off-putting. Apart from that, it's really value-for-money at 3 bucks apiece!
Thought that it was quite innovative, Mochi in a fish shape. But felt that the Mochi dough was a bit too sticky. Unlike a Mochi that's soft and chewy, this is just soft and sticky that sticks to the insides of your mouth. The red bean wasn't great either. 😕 maybe I'll stick to the pancake next time.
Instead of the traditional batter for this Japanese fish-shaped pancake, this shop uses croissant dough or mochi flour, with a variety of fillings like dark chocolate, cheese and corn, matcha, and strawberry fromage.
Tried one each of the croissant and mochi taiyaki, and my verdict is, go for the mochi and skip the croissant.
