It’s a delicate chiffon cake with jelly instead of cream in every layer. It’s well balance and trust me it’s not even sweet. Perfect sweet treat if you’re looking for a healthy dessert for munching.

Price is RM 9/ 250g as 1kg is RM45. I would suggest buying the 500g size it’s the perfect size to be shared with and doesn’t feel too small.

Flavour available: Pandan(famous), Corn (2nd best), Yam, Pandan+Corn, Pandan+Yam, Durian (seasonal)

Just type in Waze and it will redirect you to the shop directly. Make sure to go during the off peak hour between 2-4pm as when there’s a queue you’ll need to wait slightly for your turn to be serve.

Enjoy!

Make a stop at this humble cake shop for a sweet souvenir to bring back from Klang. Generations of Klangites grew up on Uncle Cheng's trademark Pandan Layer Cake (from RM22.50 for half), a delicious dessert layering pandan sponge and a kuih-like pandan jelly. The baking process is a painstaking one and when word got out that Uncle Cheng was thinking of closing up, many flocked in to show their support. You should too — after all, we never know when Regent's legacy will leave the market for good. If you've already tried the pandan, mix things up with the yam, corn or the two-in-one flavours! Tastemaker Ben Gee tips us off on popping the cake into the fridge overnight for a slice of cold, smooth breakfast delight in the morning.

A week back I reviewed their pandan cake. After finishing our box, my family went back again for another, but this time we were a little adventurous and we bought home their yam and corn cake instead. Like the pandan cake, both of them also have that alternating kuih layer and sponge cake. These cakes are extremely light and refreshing with chunks of yam and corn in the cake for an extra bite. I recommend you eating them cold. After refrigerating them overnight, the kuih layer turns into a more cooling and smooth jelly like texture. It reminds me of Kuih Lapis as I can also have fun peeling and eating them by the layers

Alternating pandan flavoured kuih layer and sponge cake. This cake is extremely light and refreshing with that lingering pandan essence after every bite. It is not something straight up and in your face , but one that slowly grows on you. I love mine served cold as it gives it that cool and smooth jelly like texture. Just pop it in the fridge overnight and you can have cake for breakfast the next day.

Between the perfectly light sponge cake lies a smooth jelly like filling. The jelly like layer has the texture of kuih lapis which is smooth and cool. The pastel green layer is pandan flavoured while the light lavender bottom layer has a filling made with yam. Feeling so satisfied having to discover another hidden gem.

Uncle Cheng's Pandan Layer Cake with alternating layers of pandan sponge and pandan jelly/kuih. It's close to odourless but upon biting, you can feel a burst of freshly squeezed pandan and santan in your mouth. Best served cold!

RM22.50 for half of the square cake (as shown in the picture). You can get it in quarters or the full block. Walk-ins were permitted and we were served in less than 5 minutes. Parking wasn't an issue and it's a short walk from the Klang KTM station.

Say 'Hello' to Uncle Cheng if you see him! Very friendly and charming (he claims he's going to be 70 next year!)
