Sedap Dan Sihat means “healthy and delicious” in Malay, serving up halal-certified steam pot in Vista Point in Woodlands. You can order individual ingredients or set one of the sets based on the number of people in the group. There are also Fish Steamboat and Chicken Rice for those who want a quick meal. Please read my review at www.hungryghost.sg

Tried out the relatively new Sedap Dan Sihat at Vista Point, a standalone steam pot place run by Kopitiam that also offers serves up chicken rice and ayam penyet from Chicky Fun that is usually found in Kopitiam coffeeshops — the place is currently awaiting its halal certification.

Because the Porridge is only available separately from the steam pot, we went for two sets; Set A for the steam pot and Porridge B for the Porridge underneath the steam pot. Set A's portion is good for two; comes with ingredients like Marinated Ginger Chicken with Wolfberry, Prawn, Enoki Mushroom, Crab Sticks, Shiitake Mushroom with Quail Eggs, Chicken Luncheon Meat, Yam, Sweet Corn, Cabbage, Smoked Duck, Sotong and Abalone Oyster Mushroom, while Porridge B comes with congee, dried scallop, clam, ginger slice and parsley. Plates are categorized into colours stating their cooking time; the service is rather haphazard with staff occasionally going around to help. The condiments were rather generic overall; nothing much to shout about, while the flavours of the condiments didn't really feel particularly infused into the congee at the end of everything. While it didn't really create an impression, I must say that it can be a pretty fun concept for big families or groups to dine at; probably just a concept I find it hard to understand.

Crab is okay but it's the crayfish and prawns that steal the show, succulent and so taut they crunch.
