At the Tangs foodhall run by the fei Siong brand is this stall selling pau and small eats like chwee kueh and chee Cheong fun and glutinous rice .

The stall doesn’t advertise but this is the same nam kee pau brand that you see at ion basement / Bugis / centrepoint basement food street etc .

Apart from their pretty good small handmade paus ( is which the Tau sar is seriously addictive ), they serve a pretty good glutinous rice .

The rice is cooked just nice without being too soft or greasy and the chicken strips are tender .

Pair it with their homemade sambal for a little oomph .

A pretty affordable mid morning or afternoon snack .

Not too bad for something found in a department store food hall. Not too dry nor wet but could use more wok hei.

At the food court at Tangs is a Nonya delicacy shop dishing out a good variety of mains and kueh .

Not the best I would say but good enough for a quick meal in the heart of Orchard.

Their dry mee siam is interesting because it comes with a splash of gravy that has a hint of coconut milk.

It would be better if some bean sprouts were thrown in for some crunch and variation because the whole dish was lacking of some fibre and contrast .

Sad that they use a microwave to heat up the mee siam ( which I disapprove ) but these days - which food vendor really cares?

I wouldn’t recommend that you get the rice set too late in the evening because I had a bad experience of hard and dry rice which was just thrown in the microwave to be warmed up.

Skip the kuehs and go for their mains 😊 ( early ) .

The “beehoon” or rice vermicelli is pre-fried in “rempah” so the strands are a vivid orange in colour and already a bit spicy. Although this is touted as “dry”, there is a bit of thick sauce ladled on around the side which tastes like a reduction of the Mee Siam gravy. I like it actually as I think the dish would be a bit too dehydrated otherwise. For toppings, there are pieces of “tau pok” (saturated in the same gravy) and a whole hardboiled egg. Not bad in terms of portion size either.

Quite bland for me. I prefer more seasoning. Not enough wok hei.

At Tangs basement we like this Klang Be kut teh. It comes with some slices of fatty pork. The herbs is wrong enough and lots of garlic
