At $7 for the simplest chicken rice, only the rice could be described as good. Every other component was in the league of chicken rice half this price.
We ordered two plates of chicken rice, one plate of kai lan, a braised egg, a braised tofu and two cups of kopi O. The bill was around $30. Food was below average. The chilli is probably among the spiciest I have tried but there was no aroma. However, it helps to numb the tongue so that we could better cope with the lousy food. It was unbelievable that the enlarged article outside the shop states that "if you haven't visited The Big Bird, you haven't had the best chicken rice in town" we wanted to comment that "if you haven't read this then you haven't read fake news" 😅
Try if you like spicy chilli. There was also no soup to accompany the rice.
Used to be $5 back in 2004, now $9. 😨 #burpple
Heard that this shop used to be famous so I was quite excited to visit it. Surprisingly it was empty although it was dinner time, their portions were pathetic and it was quite pricey - $26 for 2 pax for chicken, shared veg and roasted pork. Didn't really enjoy the meal. Apparently their roasted chicken is the famous dish and not steam chicken. Might go back again and try it!
