Kway Tiaw Reua (Boat noodles with pork) 😌

Broth is on the sweeter side but kway teow was too clumpy. Very generous with the meat πŸ‘

Took Lae Dee is a chain restaurant in Thailand since 1985 and has been popular with Thais and expats. They are also open 24 hours a day. When translated, their business name literally means "Cheap & Good".

The Boat Noodle with Pork, better known as Kway Tiaw Reua in Thai, is one of my favourite soup noodles. There is a choice of noodles with either Kway Teow or Glass Noodle. The bowl was filled with lean meat and meatballs. It was a comforting bowl of food but I will prefer the broth to be more flavourful.

Took Lae Dee is a famous 24/7 restaurant chain from Bangkok, popular for its affordable Thai fare.

The food at their Singapore outlet is decent and in particular, we liked their fried fish with thai salad (fresh young papaya and mango strips yum-yum).

They have kept prices on the low side (e.g. $6 to $8 per dish) but portions are really small even for a single person. For example, they served their tom yum soup half-full in a really small container with not much ingredients.

Not sure if I will be back again because there are better options (albeit slightly more expensive) which do not leave me hungry after the meal.

P.S. I am not a fan of coconut ice cream per se but the parents really loved it.

If you’re looking for good and value for money Thai food in Tai Seng, look no further than Took Lae Dee at 18 Tai Seng. The basil pork was really yummy, with a nice spice and fragrance from the basil leaves (top up additional $1 for fried egg). The set also includes a drink of your choice (iced milk tea or iced lime tea).

We had the pad thai too which was quite tasty, but my vote still goes to the basil pork rice!
