From the Burpple community

Got the special salmon don ($14 before 1-for-1) and it was good, the special sauce is actually mayonnaise which can get abit gelat towards the end but overall a good combination still. Worth the price even without 1-for-1.

One thing to note is this place only accepts cash so do ensure you have enough cash with you!

Cheap, good quality japanese food at a super good price point! Because I came on a Friday so I could only use the 30% off deal, and that came up to $9.10 per aburi salmon don. Can you imagine if you came on Sunday - Thursday?? That means at $13.50, you get 2 dons?! 🤯

Anyway, this is the Aburi Salmon Don which features a bed of rice covered by cubes slightly torched salmon, sliced cucumbers, shredded radish and a dollop of tobiko!

I fell in love with Umi Nami at first bite!!!! I had wanted to order the Special Salmon Don for the specjal mayo sauce but decided not to in the end because I saw some comments saying that it can get quite jelak. NO REGRETS, because the torched cubes of salmon were charred just nice and the chaoda complemented the salmon’s own flavour so well, and everything just melted in my mouth… There was no need for soya sauce and wasabi!

If I had one thing to pick on, I do find the vinegared rice abit too intense for me. But I’ll definitely return back for this gem!!!!

especially worth it with 1 for 1, as it's $14 per bowl! the sauce might be a bit too much for some people though (gets a bit jelak if you eat too much of it imo)

The scallop & salmon were served generously and fresh.
Loved that charred, torched flavor on both the salmon and scallops.
However, the service here isn’t the best. The cashier/waiter was a little impatient, angsty.
Definitely worth coming back for its 1 for 1 Burpple Deal.

very very worth it! $7 per person after the burpple 1 for 1 deal. not overly crowded on evenings, dish was served out quite fast, just felt that service could be improved. the special salmon don has too much mayo in my opinion, kind of undermined the taste of the salmon. aburi salmon don was good though! overall good experience and definitely worth it (even without the 1f1!)

✨Aburi Salmon Don✨
The cucumber tasted really raw. Maybe they should have diced it instead and drizzle a little soy sauce on it to fit well with the salmon. The salmon was chewy and slightly seared for a burnt taste. That grilled taste gives a smoky flavour to this refreshing dish. However, the salmon was a little too chewy as it took a few extra bites before swallowing. The vinegared rice was amazing! I love these kind of japanese rice where they soak it with vinegar and soy sauce! It especially blends very well with the uncooked salmon and wasabi on the side👍🏻

✨Salmon Teriyaki Don✨
The salmon was seared and cooked beautifully. It was also slightly drizzled with teriyaki sauce, giving it a little sweet and tangy flavour. The salmon itself was also tender and not dry, despite it being fully cooked. The rice was the same as the previous bowl; moistened with soy and vinegar. Hence, this bowl of rice did not feel dry at all.
