Came across this rather new Western stall that had seemingly opened rather recently at Blk 892C Woodlands Drive 50 whilst scrolling on GRAB during the no dine-in period — turns out, they had replaced the now-defunct Rise & Rice which we had previously visited shortly after the Circuit Breaker was lifted last year.

Whilst offering quite a number of standard dishes that one would expect to find at a Western food stall, Yes! Tomato does serve up a few interesting dishes such as the Tomato’s Rice and hot dog buns with various toppings (think Fried Onion, Scrambled Egg, and Mac & Cheese; just to name a few). Having skimmed through the menu before coming here, we found ourselves going for the Chicken Chop Tomato’s Rice — a dish that sees the classic grilled chicken chop served with their signature Tomato’s Rice, coleslaw and a sunny side-up.

The Tomato’s Rice is supposedly the main character here with this item — seemingly more of fried rice with a tomato infusion, the rice here comes distinguishable to the grain; it’s flavours were distinctly savoury, but also carried a slight hint of tang that one would usually associate with tomato — a lightly refreshing note before the savouriness kicks in (though we wouldn’t mind if the tangy notes were more prominent), and comes with bits of raisins for a bite. I pretty much dig how the chicken chop was done here though — it was reasonably juicy, but I liked how it carried that old-school chargrilled flavour that made it seem pretty nostalgic; all that with the drizzle of the brown sauce atop. Fried egg did come with a molten yolk, while the coleslaw did come somewhat chilled and provided a light and refreshing crunch despite its creaminess that gives the tastebuds a good break from the carbs and protein.

As with most things in Woodlands, I guess Yes! Tomato isn’t that sort of establishment one would make a trip out of their way if one isn’t nearby the area. That being said, I would reckon it is a pretty decent (and somewhat different) dining option to have for the residents who are within the vicinity — the chicken chop being particularly decent and something that fit my tastebuds especially.
