Merry Christmas! Celebrating with a joyous day of feasting with this special cake from Breadtalk. A unique cake that had an aromatic blend of hazelnut cream and slathered with generous hazelnuts and almonds. The cake wasn't too sweet, and the hazelnut cream was exceptional with that delectable hazelnut aroma. Ho ho ho!

Yet another amazing dish rendered by Gastrosmiths. This was an extraordinary dish and we were truly blown away by the quality of the ingredients. There were 4 kinds of Japanese mushrooms used (pardon my forgetfulness of their names), and they were sliced SO thick and fresh, and then layered with generous slices of Parmesan cheese that went so incredibly well with the al-dente pasta and mushrooms. There were also hints of truffle oil used. Just amazing. Will definitely be back for so much more.

One of the best poached eggs I've had in cafes! The slight touch of Japanese infusion was amazing. To start off, what stood out was the seaweed (who would expect seaweed on eggs?) it was marinated and flavored so delicately with a blend of sweetness, saltiness and a hint of spicyness. It was just the umami flavour. Moving on, the smoked salmon were so fresh, and portions were generous. They were not overly salty (like those typically found in cafes), and could tell that they were marinated before, as it bore saltiness and a tinge of sourness that rightly balanced out. And the eggs, oh goodness they were so good! Reputedly known as the 63 degrees eggs, they were beautifully presented as the yolks were large and yellow, and when slurped in one shot, it was just heavens. They were cooked just right, and just so amazing when paired with the seaweed and smoked salmon. It was extraordinary how the chef managed to infuse Japanese elements into such a western dish of poached eggs to make it so unique. And oh yes, the bread of the day was oatmeal bread, and as ordinary as it sounds, it was not. It was toasted just right, not too dry or hard, and still soft and fresh in the middle. Amazing combination. Will definitely be back for other dishes!

Wouldn't consider it a 'magic-al' cup of coffee as it was rather ordinary. However, it must be credited for the right balance of milk and caffeine, and it was neither too milky/ frothy or overpowering.

Standards are back! The previous time we had it the prawn broth was not fresh not sweet, but overly oily. So glad they are back on track again, and for an affordable $8, be prepared to feast on fresh 'red-feet' (angka) prawns that are sea-bred and thus have that distinct sweetness to it. Fingerlickin good! Don't forget to slurp up the broth that is overflowing with prawn roe!

Queued so long for this Rojak! Supposedly reputed to be one of the best in Singapore, but we found its taste only so-so, as it was lacking the oomph of a distinct prawn paste taste. Wouldn't sacrifice another 30mins for this again!

Homemade comfort breakfast: 2 slices of toasted wholemeal bread with tuna paired with decadent cheese slice, coupled with a bowl of cereal soaked in milk. Nutritious and power packed day to come!

Complete it with a bowl of plain old fluffy warm rice, marvel and behold at this amazing bowl of freshness: thick slices of mackerel fish (batang), firm tofu and amazing roe that curled up beautifully within the clear soup for just an additional dollar.

My usual indulgence of seafood with fish roe, but the servings are getting smaller (think small prawns, thin slices of fish that break apart when taken up, and miserable thin hard cuts of sotong) and pricier 😔

Thick succulent fresh slices of pork liver and kidney that curled up within the peppery herbal soup broth, that was overflowing with the authenticity of the broth being cooked with pork bones for hours. It's a rare sight to see hawkers still sell such generous portions of this delicacy, which is not only a comfort food, but believed to have health benefits of nourishment to the ladies! Superb with a bowl of rice, especially on a rainy day.

Thick slices of fresh mackerel (batang) fish with an additional add-on of yummy cholesterol food: fish roe! The boss was really generous with the fish roe, and for just an additional $1, we got the whole fish roe! Clear soup, sweet fresh fish slices, anytime anywhere.
