Bite-sized and juicy, the five gyozas were stuffed to the max with a minced pork and celery mix. I was expecting to see stretch marks on that delicate skin wrapping! 😆

This vibrant, modern Mexican beer garden on the first floor of 313@Somerset is filled with edgy graphics and colours, putting you right in the mood to relax and enjoy a meal with friends. This is the newest venture of the folks behind Mex Out in Far East Square. Come by for a relaxed lunch or unwind after work with a drink, and start by sharing the Burnt Nachos ($13.60), fried tortilla chips topped with smoky chilli con carne, jalapenos and guacamole. You must order the Barbacoa Quesidillas ($13.40) — a generous portion of chargrilled flank steak and melted cheese stuffed in crispy quesidillas, served with a side of homemade chilli jam. Also share the Fish Taco ($16.50 for three), which sees chunky beer battered seabass served with pickled red cabbage, spicy mayo and salsa. Burppler Sam Chua recommends a squeeze of lime juice on the tacos before tucking into "quite literally the best fish tacos in town"!

Thanks to Burpple's recommendation, Mongkok Dim Sum is now one of my favorite places to indulge in abundance of dim sum without worrying burning a hole in my pocket. We had Shredded Mango with Shrimp, Spinach Dumpling, Mongkok Pork Dumpling, House Special Prawn Dumpling, 3 Yolk Crab Claypot Porridge ($9), Steamed Rice Roll with Char Siew, and 3 Color Milk Tea ($3.20). The dim sum items we had are priced at $4 only! 😄

I can recall the magnificent taste of this marbled-like-art steak from a previous visit and was very pleased to relive it all over again two nights ago.

Not counting the wedge of lime and pile of lightly-dressed raw watercress lying next to it, the grilled Mayura Cube Roll was served naked save for a few glistening flakes of sea salt. Its license to thrill lay purely in its depth of flavour, evenly-distributed and abundant fat, as well as its brief but vital encounter with extremely hot coals.

In contrast, the beef flank dish that came just before, had the robust support of a sweetish, dark brown burnt onion sauce and creamy gobs of bone marrow.

Not that one's necessarily better than the other. It all comes down to whether your taste for steak leans towards Calvin Klein minimalism or 80's Versace-inspired embellishment.

$7 for three of these yummy sweet treats! Enjoy it while it's warm! Let the Liu Sha ooze out of the soft sugary donut. Great with a cup of cafe latte! Good amount of salted egg yolk for the size of donut, would definitely come back again but make sure to come early before they're sold out!

Set in a back alley in the heart of Geylang, this late night joint (open till 3am daily) draws the crowds with its signature JB San Lou Bee Hoon (from $7 for small). Despite its nondescript appearance, the bee hoon is expertly fried and flattened, resulting in a 'pancake' of silky soft vermicelli with perfectly charred bits — simple but so good! They also do mean Salted Egg Prawn Balls (from $20 for small), Fried Garlic Chilli Clams (from $16 for small) and White Pepper Crabs (market price) slicked in an unusual garlicky white pepper sauce that allows the natural sweetness of the crabs to shine through. Most of the small dishes are good to share between two or three.

At Indian fusion eatery Maziga Indian Grill, the round and crispy Old Delhi Golgappa Chat comes with refreshing tubes of chilled jaljeera oxide (powdered herbs that have been given a Heston-esque treatment of liquid nitrogen) bursting with great flavours. This sweet, tangy and spicy evening snack is loved by everyone in the dining table!

Ordered quite abit for just two persons. Really enjoyed the Glass Noodles and Tofu Soup with seafood. It's a must try! Skip the bbq dishes which we felt wasn't worth it among all the dishes. Overall a great dining place!

2 munchies: Exuding golden-brown gorgeousness, but unfortunately the pancakes lacked fluffiness and were so dry that they couldn't quite absorb the maple syrup. Diners should also be given the liberty to adjust the amount of sweetener we want for the pancakes. The crunchy walnut was the only thing I enjoyed about this dish.
